Job Description

As New Product Introduction Program Manager (NPI PM) for high-volume manufacturing of Microsoft Hardware, you will play a fundamental role in the end-to-end lifecycle of Microsoft’s hardware development programs, from inception of an idea through the shipment to our customers.

 

Meanwhile, you’ll work with the Microsoft Hardware supply base to deliver new and innovative products on time, at quantity and quality, and meeting or beating cost goals. It will be your responsibility to quickly “ramp up” on the End2End processes, continue to develop tools that improve communication, provide advanced manufacturing experience and guide the team to the end goal of delivering high-quality hardware products.

 

As such, you will be expected to have strong program management skills, an extremely high bandwidth, being able to quickly understand and contribute to products as they are initially built and then brought to mass production in our China factories. You will be expected to help solving complex technical issues, establish patterns and practices, and provide technical leadership to the entire team.

 

Responsibilities

Key Role:


• Leader for integrating Hardware development, Software & All cross functional group deliverables to enable a seamless and effective project management
• Accountable for the execution of all engineering builds, process validation and ramp and success of a product launch

• Have an in depth understanding of the product technical requirements, various team milestones and interdependencies for establishing an accurate and effective project infrastructure
• Establish clear goals and objectives and Roles & Responsibilities among the cross functional groups
• Responsible for effective management of risks and dependencies while ensuring timely decisions are being made, ensuring quality of the product
• Manage and drive the build readiness, including BOM, equipment, the line, resources and daily progress or yield reporting plan for the success product build
• Monitor and control the project and product scope, cost, schedule and final deliverables for meeting stakeholder's expectations
• Interacting with senior management at Contract Manufacturers and demonstrate ability to communicate and present to all levels of management
• Participate in Requests for Information (RFI) and Requests for Quotation (RFQ), and supporting supplier selection decisions

Qualifications

• A minimum of 6 years work experience in manufacturing-related Program or Project Management, Manufacturing Engineering, or Industrial Engineering. Of the 6-year experience, a minimum of 4 years should be in a manufacturing environment, preferably involving electronics fabrication and injection molding.
• Strong communication skill is a must, ability to integrate information from multiple group (connecting the dot), escalate issue at the right time/level and ability bring group together to resolve issue in a productive manner.
• Additional experience and knowledge in consumer product, product development process will be significantly advantageous. International experience preferred, with ability and willingness to travel internationally a must. Supplier management experience preferred.
• Candidate must demonstrate advanced level of knowledge in manufacturing disciplines; possess excellent communications and leadership skills, ability to work well with cross functional groups, ability to work independently with remote supervision.
• Communication in English and Chinese, both written and spoken, is required at a high standard.
• B.S. degree in engineering (Electrical or Mechanical Engineering) is a must and M.S. preferred.
