National Sales Manager

Job Description
Responsibilities:
Build, develop and lead a sales team that is hungry for success and ambitious in achieving targets.
Drive Sales with the team (and significant customers) through a hands-on approach, spending significant time in the field with customers and sales reps.
Develop plans and strategies to promote the success of the field sales function by accurately forecasting annual, quarterly and monthly sales to meet or exceed regional sales quotas.
Direct the work effort of field sales reps by setting strategy, assigning territories, and setting goals.
Manage direct field activities in following strategic business plans to identify prospective customers as well as maintain existing customer base.
Display and demonstrate products to customers in an effective manner.
Make entry of all account and prospecting activities into sales database to keep database current and insure field sales team is doing the same.
Motivate and mentor the sales staff, train new sales people, and conduct performance management including development planning.
Complete all administrative requirements in a timely and accurate manner.
Manage all established sales processes, drive compliance and further professionalize the sales organization while developing a culture of continued process improvement and sales excellence. Some key existing processes that need to be managed:
Sales Forecasting
Pipeline management (through SF)
Renewals
Key Account management
Sales visit planning
budgeting
Develop a team that embraces an organized, analytical, and structured approach to sales
Develop and execute regional sales strategies, implement regional marketing and sales (action) plans that support the goals & objectives of the business, and produce long-term growth and success
Mentor, coach, train and develop staff
Maintain, develop and strengthen an excellent collaboration with the other members of the sales team and other groups in the company such as Technology Product Management, Content Management, Pricing Technical Support and Marketing
Maintain, develop and strengthen the relationship with WK China management and peers and contribute/perform as a senior member of the WK China management team
Work with Product Management team in the US to determine viable new products for the markets
Maintain, develop and strengthen the relationship with Ovid billing agents to ensure accurate processing, timely payment and day-to-day relationship
Experience:
Essential:
· Minimum of 5 years direct sales experience
· Minimum of 3 years sales management experience in a direct sales environment
· Track record of sales (management) success in complex, solution-focused environments
· Track record of building and retaining highly successful sales teams
· Track record of managing sales teams according to industry-standard sales processes
· Experience working in an international environment
· Cultural (business) awareness related to China
· Fluent in English and Chinese
Desired:
· Experience in working with hospital customers
· Experience in working with university customers
· Experience in working with and managing local agents
· Knowledge of (STM) publishing industry
