Primary Job Function

Responsible for supporting, implementing, and upgrading for Abbott Global Data Network. This position will serve as the IT professional for executing projects involving complex support and maintenance for all Abbott sites including acquisitions/divestitures.  Responsible for feasibility studies of new technologies, detailed design creation, and proposal preparation for network engineering-related initiatives.  Responsible for timely interaction with customers of the platform, peer technologists, and the network management team.  The ideal candidate will have experience in routing/ switching, WAN/MPLS/VPN, SD-WAN, Cisco ACI, WLAN, Load Balancing, security infrastructure, and Zscaler.

Core Job Responsibilities

• Support, implement and upgrade large-scale enterprise WAN, LAN, WLAN including routers, switches, firewalls, and other network-related hardware.
• Contributes to the plans and designs of innovative enterprise Network infrastructure solutions.
• Executes identified opportunities for network performance and functionality improvement within the enterprise network.
• Participate in the development efforts to bring automation into the network environment.
• Responsible for compliance with all applicable policies, procedures, and industry best practices.
• Serve as network subject matter expert and provide consulting support to the business and end-user organizations.
• Produce and maintain timely, accurate engineering documentation to support implementation, operations support, and quality/compliance requirements.
• Frequently interacts with supplier technical staff to maintain services in support of business requirements.

• Impacts the availability of network services by resolving issues with network infrastructure and services in a timely manner
• Delivers technology solutions and works on medium complex technical problems and provides innovative solutions.

• Supports Abbott Operations Worldwide. Demonstrates a strong customer-centric approach, empathy for global cultural differences, and excellent communications skills.

• Supports Abbott global data network operations support staff worldwide

Skill, Education, Experience

• Bachelor’s Degree preferred in a technology or management discipline
• 2 -4 years network experience with multinational enterprises of 5000+ users contributing to the executing of projects and support of enterprise-scale routing and switching environments, MPLS / VPN, WLAN, intrusion prevention, cloud security, firewalls, monitoring tools, network topologies, load balancing, and WAN acceleration / QoS.
• Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously, while adhering to deadlines
• Demonstrates a strong customer-centric approach and excellent communications skills.
