The communications manager will manage site messaging on key issues in a way that maintains and enhances Intel's reputation in order to protect and enhance Intel's license to operate, support operations and site growth and foster positivity towards Intel from key stakeholders, the general public and employees.

The communications manager will develop a variety of messaging to cover external communications channels such as earned local media, social media, speaking opportunities, presentations to external stakeholders and paid media. The content will include a range of topics from sharing news about Intel's positive impact in New Mexico to risk and emergency management messaging.

As a New Mexico Communications Manager your responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

  • Enhance and protect the reputation of Intel in New Mexico through effective messaging on key issues
  • Generate external visibility to activities and programs associated with Intel in New Mexico
  • Deliver engaging content via targeted channels for message impact and retention
  • Develop key messaging that can be utilized by GPA team and other site leadership with a variety of key external stakeholders (media, site neighbors, general community, elected officials)
  • Develop the communication strategy and execute communication plans and campaigns that enhance and protect Intel's reputation in New Mexico using a robust mix of engagement channels.
  • Manage media relations including frontline coordination of media queries and reactive media management, act as the external point of contact for issues that have a public interest/impact.
  • Cultivate and manage relationships with key media contacts and Public Information Officers at local governmental agencies.
  • Manage content for communication channels (print, online, social, speaker notes) including editorial, copy creation and multimedia responsibilities.
  • Develop strategy and messaging to mitigate any media related risks that could negatively impact Intel's reputation.
  • Prepare internal communication briefs for site leadership on key issues.
  • Manage and refresh collateral with key messages such as the Intel in New Mexico overview, site fact sheets, external websites, etc.
  • Work closely with regional and global communication functions to ensure alignment on key messages and to ensure that local communication strategies are cohesive and complimentary to our corporate objectives.
  • Serve as communications lead for the New Mexico Emergency Operations Center (EOC) in order to deliver external and internal time-sensitive emergency communications when needs arise.
  • Knowledge of local operating environment, plus a broad understanding of key local and state policy, environmental and community issues.

  • Communications management experience of managing engagement with media, generating material for online, print and social channel distribution, including copy creation, editorial and creativity management; issue/crisis management including determining appropriate communication strategies to emerging issues that may impact the company's business.
  • Experience of operating in a fast-paced, interrupt-driven environment.
  • Skills to work effectively with senior management in both direct and matrix reporting environments, collaborate across organizational boundaries, facilitate alignment of objectives and win-win outcomes.

Qualifications

This is an entry-level position and will be compensated accordingly. You must possess the below minimum qualifications to be initially considered for this position. Preferred qualifications are in addition to the minimum requirements and are considered a plus factor in identifying top candidates. Experience would be obtained through a combination of prior education level classes, and current level school classes, projects, research, and relevant previous job and/or internship experience. Position not eligible for Intel immigration sponsorship.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Public Affairs, Public Relations, Business Administration, Communications or related field with 2+ years of experience in a Communications role.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working with business associations and/or chambers, government agencies or political organizations.

Work Model for this Role

This role will be eligible for our hybrid work model which allows employees to split their time between working on-site at their assigned Intel site and off-site.
