Eaton’s Commercial & Residential Distribution Solutions (CRDS) Division is currently seeking an NPD Engineering Specialist to join our team. This position is based at our Cleveland, TN facility. Relocation assistance will be provided.
Perform a wide variety of engineering and technical tasks involving the application of engineering knowledge and the development of solutions to complex problems pertaining to products, materials, manufacturing processes, tests, and unique customer applications. Completion of these tasks is done in a project and process-controlled method to achieve new product growth plans.

- Assume design responsibility for new product development of Switching Devices product line and newly introduced products. Execute all design, development, and related technical tasks required to maintain the product line.
- Identify market trends and develop product technology strategies to satisfy the future needs of our customers, while driving profitable business growth.
- Prepare new project estimates and possess the ability to generate the project scope, effort, schedule, risks, and program costs.
- Provide consultation to sales and marketing team and answer technical question regarding product capabilities for customers and application engineers.
- Develop and successfully launch new innovative and disruptive products, using the Eaton stage-gate process, on time, on budget, and to project scope
- Assume responsibility for appropriate testing and evaluation of products, parts, equipment, tools, and systems along with necessary corrective follow-up.
- Drive product line direction in standard organizations as a representative of Eaton. Understand and effect changes to the standard that support Eaton initiatives and values. Assume roles in standards leadership (NEMA, CANENA, UL, IEEE).
- Prepare and write articles for trade and technical publications, present papers (as required) and prepare patent disclosures for identified IP in product designs.
- Research and introduce new tools to the company to increase product development team capability, make product development more efficient, to improve the quality of our products, and to make manufacturing more profitable.

Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering/Engineering Technology from an accredited institution
- Minimum of 5 years of design engineering experience
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship now or in the future.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Minimum of 10 years of design engineering experience
- Master’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering degree from an accredited institution
- Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt
- Experience working with UL
- Experience with product testing
- Ability to function in a team environment
- Experience in technical writing
- Experience mentoring new engineers
- Experience working in a production facility
