Primary Purpose of the position:

• Goodyear is looking for a forward-thinking, creative new venture specialist to support its innovation strategy. This role is based in Shanghai and will help position Goodyear at the forefront of key trends that are shaping the automotive industry.
• Goodyear is spearheading its local innovation efforts with a cross-functional team of engineers, scientists, new venture specialists and designers to help shape new mobility and digital solutions in this market.
• The New Venture Specialist will design, create and test new opportunities in a cross functional team environment, from upfront strategy, to creating new value propositions, business models and go-to-market strategies. This role will be instrumental in not only delivering new initiatives for Goodyear to differentiate and grow in the China market, but also be on the leading edge of advancing Goodyear’s business model innovation practice.

Major Responsibilities:

• Support the User-Centered Designer and team in generating compelling value propositions.
• Create business model options & identify critical unknowns.
• Stochastically model the impact of those unknowns on the desired business outcome.
• Design "minimum viable prototypes" and conduct “in-market" experiments to gain more certainty around chosen business model.
• Guide technology development work by working with subject matter experts & external vendors/partners.
• Keep up to date with market trends and technology developments.
• Recommend which opportunities should be “incubated” in market.
• Draw up financial statements based on well-articulated assumptions & define learning agenda for businesses in incubation.
• Consult incubation leaders to help them achieve their startup goals.

Requirements:

Education:

• Bachelor degree in engineering, marketing, economics. MBA or Master Degree is preferred.

Experience:

• 3 to 5 years working in innovation projects or equivalent entrepreneurship experiences.
• Experience in business analytics.
• Experience in designing iterative experiments.
• Experience in engineering, innovation or customer facing roles.
• Delivering results in a team environment is a must.
• Experience in managing and prioritizing tasks in project-based work.
• Experience in user research and customer insight will be a plus.
  

Languages:

• Working-level proficiency in Chinese and English required. Any additional language is considered an asset.

Skills & Qualifications:

• Ability to contribute in a cross functional team environment.
• Ability to travel at least 25% on average.
• Analytical skills including stochastic model building.
• Decisiveness under ambiguous circumstances and the ability to adopt new ideas and change initiatives.
• Ability to clearly communicate progress of projects to stakeholders and adapt communication style to appropriately communicate with various stakeholders (internal & external).
