Ningbo International School Science Teacher
Dept:Teaching Department
Base Salary/annual RMB:¥300,000-¥420,000
Start Date: As soon as possible
Overview: The role will teach General Science, Chemistry, and Biology as well as scientific
vocabulary in English to middle school students (Grade 6 to 8). Also, the ideal candidate will
prepare students for the Cambridge Checkpoint Science Exam, ensuring they are well-equipped with both scientific knowledge and exam techniques. Ability to teach a supplementary subject
(e.g., Mathematics, Physics, English, Computer Science, Life Science, Humanities, Global
Perspectives, etc.) is an advantage.
Key Responsibilities:
Plan and deliver engaging and differentiated lessons that cater to the diverse learning needs
and abilities of students.
Conduct hands-on science lessons in the laboratory, engaging students through experiments and practical demonstrations.
Assess, record, and report on student progress through formative and summative assessments, providing timely feedback for improvement for students and parents.
Analyze students' results and assessments to inform future teaching practices and support student achievement.
Provide pastoral care and academic support to students, ensuring their well being and success in science subjects.
Supervise students during lunch, study hall, and night study preparation sessions and undertake safeguarding supervision duties, ensuring a safe and productive learning
environment.
Communicate effectively with Chinese teenagers, understanding their unique needs and ensuring concepts are clearly understood, even for those who may not be fully conversant in
English.
Communicate regularly with parents regarding student progress, behaviour, and other concerns.
Teach Co-Curricular Activities (CCA) , fostering the holistic development of students outside
of the core curriculum. Conduct field trips to enhance students’ experiential learning and connect classroom lessons to the real world.
Help plan and organize the school's Science or STEM fairs, ensuring that students can
present their learning through exhibitions and displays of their scientific work and projects.
Participate actively in school life, including attending school events, open days, and
parent-teacher conferences, contributing to school publications.
Administrative duties as assigned, such as tutorship.

Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Life Sciences, Biology, or a related field, a Master’s degree
in Education or Sciences is an advantage. A recognized teaching certificate such as PGCE from a reputable institution.
Minimum of 3 years of teaching experience in IGCSE and lower secondary General Science, Biology, or Chemistry with a proven track record of student achievement; Proven experience in preparing students for the Cambridge Checkpoint and/or IGCSE Biology and/or Chemistry
Exam(s).
Familiarity with either the British, SAR Hong Kong, or Singapore Science curricula.
Experience working with Chinese teenagers or students from non-native English
backgrounds is an advantage.
Experience in conducting hands-on laboratory experiments and practical lessons in a school science lab setting.
Experience in integrating technology into the classroom and using varied teaching methodologies.
