Job Overview
In our department within Daimler Trucks North America, Product Validation Engineering (PVE) is responsible for validation work to assure our products are industry leaders in customer experience. The NVH team is responsible for the noise, vibration, and ride performance of our vehicles, including testing, diagnosing root causes, and recommending solutions to close gap to target. We are looking for an automotive NVH Technical Specialist to strategically guide company-wide NVH efforts from early project concept to production launch and beyond. In addition to structured-problem solving and testing, the role also consists of mentoring and influencing across the organization because the entire organization’s support is often needed to achieve our NVH goals.
Responsibilities
Responsibilities of all Tech Fellows:
- Technical Fellows are recognized throughout DTNA as a technical expert and leading in a strategic and complex technical discipline. They must have a strong Daimler network and are expected to establish and maintain industry connections.
- Proactively identifies and solves the most complex problems within technical discipline and ensures continuous improvement.
- Anticipates business challenges and regulatory issues affecting technical discipline
- Develops technical roadmap for responsible technical discipline as part of DTNA’s strategy to advance the state-of-the-art
- DTNA is leading the industry in responsible area
- Coaches Engineering and other affected departments on all levels in important topics in area of technical discipline
- Gives inspiring technical presentations – technical meetings, Tech Talks and Engineering training
- Finds, tackles and solves knowledge gaps within the technical discipline by effectively communicating within Daimler, the industry and academia

- Own knowledge is continuously growing and shared within Daimler with focus on DTNA
- Safeguards intellectual property
- Publishes technical articles, technical specifications, standards and white papers

Responsibilities Noise and Vibrations (NVH) Tech Fellows:
- Lead NVH activities company-wide. This includes driving and subjective evaluation, DVP&R planning, testing, developing structured problem-solving approaches, and developing new test methods where needed. This includes both ICE-powered vehicle and eVehicle NVH.
- Develop NVH strategy for early-stage projects. This includes competitive benchmarking & target setting and translating rough qualitative direction into objective criteria. This also includes assessing project scope for NVH risk and developing DVP&R content to assess and validate that risk.
- Plan, organize, and lead testing, including structured problem solving, to quantify and diagnose root causes of underperformance.
- Mentor and influence large portions of DTNA organization, including design engineering, quality, product strategy, service, in NVH. Almost every part of the vehicle touches and can influence NVH, so an effective NVH technical fellow must be a leader that can influence almost every part of the vehicle organization.
- Uphold a team focus with willingness to help and support the NVH & Dynamics team beyond areas of direct responsibility.
- Position will require some travel throughout the year and at times this can occur with limited notice, especially for testing at Madras track and locally.
