Job Description
Eaton’s CPD PCD Power Components Division is currently seeking for an OPEX Engineer to join our team. This position is based at our Arecibo, PR facility. PRIMARY FUNCTION: The OPEX Engineer position provides support to Arecibo's manufacturing operations in Feeders or Assembly. This includes the establishment of manufacturing processes, control and capacity analysis, cost studies, safety assessments, quality control implementations and continuous improvements of manufacturing processes. Defines, coordinates, leads and executes actions to improve productivity, quality, scrap reduction, PPMs reduction, capacity and OTP increase, safety improvement and operational cost reduction. Defines and leads process improvement projects in order to improve plant’s indicators (PPM, Warranty Claims, Fill Rate, On-Time Performance, OEE, Productivity and Scrap). ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Develops, evaluates and improves manufacturing methods and processes. Designs visual controls and embedded test. Analyzes and plans work force utilization, space requirements and work process flow. Designs layout of equipment and workspace for maximum efficiency. Generates, reviews, updates and develops JSA’s, Standard Work Instruction, Visual aids and MIL's. Trains and certifies manufacturing operators. Develops & updates VSM for Currents and Future states. Provides guidance for the proper selection of manufacturing equipment and tools. Performs and prepares capacity studies. Works with the requirements established by Lean (Standard Work Flow, Manning, Layout, Operation Balance Chart, VSM, Cross Training and TPM), EQS and Mesh. Responsible for the implementation of Lean / Kaizen Events in mfg. areas. Supports manufacturing equipment design and validation. Monitors manufacturing processes/performance and provide/implement corrective actions to problems. Performs data analysis and prepare reports Analyzes equipment/processes using six sigma tools in order to identify and implements improvements (e.g. MSA). Responsible of cost savings programs assigned. Justifies, manages and implements capital projects including appropriation generation, establish requirements, getting quotes, placing orders, monitor/reports progress and ensure the completion of projects. Performs safety analysis, safety inspections and remediation projects in coordination with the MESH department for the production operations. Promotes and promulgates all MESH Process and Policies to all the employees under his/her supervisor and ensure that they are being performed at his/her area. Participates in accidents investigation processes (EH&S). Evaluates and selects new technologies/equipment to improve quality, performance and safety. Manages and generates Job Safety Analysis (JSA) of manufacturing processes. Answers C.Q.M's & CAPA's in a timely manners (Take Containment, Corrective & Preventive actions, Root cause, actions plans, etc..) Participates in audits (ISO, EQS,LEAN,MESH, etc..). Project Responsibilities and Accountabilities based on role scope: Discuss Key metrics on Tier 2, Use IIOT information to define fast response actions. Follow actions with the respectively team. Support Usage of IIOT system through the plant. Thru IIOT Dashboard, Visual Display, Tier 2 Board Support and provide guidance to solve system functionality issues. Track usage discuss discrepancy and develop corrective /preventive actions. Thru IIOT Dashboard, Shop floor Connectivity TDM / UI support & maintenance thru Shop Floor Connectivity Maintain and enforce usage of TDM and PDES system in mfg. areas thru Shop Floor Connectivity Inform of issues and anomalies in the Tier meeting thru Shop Floor Connectivity PDES / UI support & maintenance thru Shop Floor Connectivity Workstation - ongoing support & maintenance thru Infrastructure Workstation - new workstation setup thru Infrastructure Kinetic IoT Platform, Containers, & Dashboard thru Cloud Maintain performance for OEE calculations (Performance) thru Dashboards #LI-SL4 #LI-SL4 Qualifications SPECIALIZED KNOWLEDGE: Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering 1 year of experience in manufacturing environment, Lean tools, capacity analysis, manning process, cost savings and capital projects. 1 year of leadership experience. Prioritizes, considers alternatives, and responds quickly and effectively to unexpected and rapidly changing conditions. Developing, evaluating, and improving manufacturing methods and processes to reduce scrap, reduce warranty PPMs and improve OTP. Analyzing and planning work force utilization. Development and implementation of manufacturing instructions. Layout design and modification. Manufacturing processes continues improvements. Preparation of Capacity Studies Perform data analysis and prepare reports Experience Leading cost savings initiatives and projects. Experience justifying, managing and implementing capital projects. Experience using and implementing Lean (Standard Workflow, Manning, Layout, Operation Balance Chart, VSM and Cross Training). Provide guidance for the proper selection of manufacturing equipment and tools. Identification and selection of new technology to improve quality and performance. PC Proficiency including knowledge of MS windows operating systems, MS Office and Minitab. EHS practices, regulations, and procedures experience. Experience supporting internal/external audits including certification renewal. Proactive attitude towards problem solving and resolving issues that may affect plant/employee’s health, safety, and operations. Availability to work extended hours when required. Ability to work under pressure. Bilingual – English\Spanish with good oral and written communication skills.
