OBSERVATIONAL RESEARCH SENIOR MANAGER

What you will do

In this vital role you will conceptualise, design, conduct, analyse, interpret and publish observational research supporting drug development programmes and regulatory submissions, investigating post-marketing safety and effectiveness for Amgen’s products.

  • You will be the technical expert in a cross-functional team to: identify evidence needs; understand how RWE can be used to support the product development and commercialisation strategy; and develop, maintain and expand a portfolio of observational research activities to support these strategies. 
  • You will develop strong partnerships with internal stakeholders to meet the product needs.
  • You will plan resource allocation to accomplish multiple research projects and attain project and study timelines.
  • You will identify innovative, timely and cost-effective methods to conduct epidemiologic studies.
  • You will help build and facilitate Amgen research collaborations with opinion leaders and professional societies, particularly those overseeing relevant disease registries
  • You will contribute to the development of an efficient RWE ecosystem that supports effective development and commercialization of Amgen assets.
  • You will promote understanding and use of observational research methods in drug development and commercialisation

The Center for Observational Research (CfOR) leads Amgen’s strategic effort to optimally leverage real world evidence (RWE) to help increase the efficiency of drug development and drug commercialisation. To ensure optimal support of Amgen business, Amgen’s CfOR is a global organisation with an agile structure combining teams of highly talented real-world data scientists, epidemiologists, statistical programmers and operational experts coupled with industry-leading analytical capability in its RWE ecosystem. You will be joining a well-established, dynamic team operating out of the UK R&D hub.

What we expect of you

We are all different, yet we all use our unique contributions to serve patients. What we seek in you as an experienced  professional, are these qualifications and skills:

  • Master’s degree or PhD in Epidemiology (or other subject with high observational research content) or Medical degree with demonstrable observational research experience.
  • Demonstrable experience leading pharmaco-epidemiologic research programs in a drug development environment.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to develop credibility with colleagues within and outside observational research, as well as interact effectively in multi-disciplinary matrix teams to influence decisions.
  • Broad experience in collaborating with internal/external research partners and in managing multiple tasks and complex projects.
  • Ability to work well within a business-driven environment, balance priorities and handle multiple tasks through careful planning, stakeholder management, project administration, and organisational skills.
  • Experience in research project planning and management.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills and demonstrated ability to communicate scientific evidence to peers and at scientific meetings.
