This position administers medical aspects of occupational health for company operations including medical surveillance, case management, return to work, Workers' Compensation, Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA) certification program. Promotes health of all employees by prevention, recognition, and treatment of injury and illnesses. Provides technical expertise to field operations on medical issues.

Key Responsibilities:

 Occupational Health Nurse offers the opportunity to:

  • Assess, treat, and advise employees with minor to life threatening injuries.

  • Assist in training for emergency responders on specific chemicals, cardiology, pharmacology, and other topics as requested.

  •  Provide medical support during turnarounds including on and off shifts.

  • After hour, weekend, and holiday medical call for Albemarle employees.

  • Document accurate medical records to ensure compliance with OSHA and Government regulations and perform duties in accordance with site quality and safety systems.

  • Assessment and treatment of occupational and non-occupational injuries and illnesses;

  • Assist in the development of clinical and emergency response treatment protocols and keep protocols updated to reflect current best practices in the EMS community while advancing the level of care responders are able to provide with the goal of improving patient/employee satisfaction, comfort and ultimate outcomes.

  • Coordinate communications and logistics between the Emergency Response Team (ERT) and Occupational Health while keeping clinic processes and education updated to be better able to respond to emergency events ranging from cardiac arrests and personal medical emergencies to site-wide disaster response;

  • Responsible for the coordination of the physical exam program.

  • Conduct regulatory required physicals and pre-employment physicals to determine fitness for duty.

  • Responsible and knowledgeable in physical requirement testing that may facilitate early detection of health-related problems including but not limited to: audiograms, pulmonary function tests, vital signs, 12 lead EKG, blood draw, Respirator FIT testing, Ear Fit testing and other components deemed necessary.

  • Case management and tracking of occupational and non-occupational injuries and illnesses (Worker's Compensation and short-term disability cases).

  • Responsible for verifying/ coordinating return to work dates informing management of necessary job accommodations to ensure proper rehabilitation period and safety of employees.

  • Responsible for maintaining proper inventory of medication and supplies.

  • Assist with developing, implementing and maintaining site medical services programs and procedures to meet Corporate Medical Guidelines and OSHA/DOT regulations;

  • Provide medical expertise to production unit managers and Human Resources when dealing with employee issues such as substance abuse, emotional disturbances, absenteeism, reproductive hazards, employment, fitness for duty, vaccinations and ergonomic issues.

  • Provide resource on raw materials, intermediates and products to contractors, hospitals, medical clinics and physicians during emergency situations on treatment inquiries. Collaborate with Industrial Hygiene and Safety as appropriate.

  • Maintains complete medical records for all employee interaction. Ensures patient privacy and medical record confidentiality and compliance.

  • Maintains list of approved and vetted outside medical providers for medical surveillance, emergency care and project support.

Education, Certifications and Experience:

  • Minimum Bachelor of Science in nursing or related field with current unencumbered Registered Nurse license.

  • Minimum 3 years registered nurse experience in acute medical facility.

  • BLS.

  • Willing to certify in Occupational hearing Certification, Pulmonary Function testing, FIT testing. Other certifications as necessary.

  • Willing to Certify as Occupational Health Nurse when criteria met.

  • Fluent in use of Microsoft programs and electronic medical records.
