As an Offensive Security Researcher at Intel, you will lead complex, multi-disciplinary security research projects using your research expertise. The Security Research organization is a multidisciplinary team in Intel's Product Assurance and Security (IPAS) organization, focusing on offensive security research, developing new mitigation strategies and tools. The team is involved in a variety of projects of various size and scope ranging from short-term crises to long-term objectives.
You will be responsible for leading or taking an active role in complex, multidisciplinary security research projects. Commands deep pervasive pulse on Intel business and technologies and emerging threat landscape in hacker community to prioritize offensive security research focus. Ability to navigate around ambiguities and obstacles to independently solve complex problems. Demonstrated expertise in vulnerability discovery, analysis and exploitation. Explores and invents software and hardware techniques as a method of attack against compute targets. Develops proof of concepts to characterize exploitability and impacts. Recommends systemic mitigations and demonstrates their robustness across a diverse portfolio of products. Leads automation pathfinding to improve security assurance capabilities of product teams. Shares expert insights and new learning and contributes intellectual property to internal and external communities. Requires knowledge of computer architecture, SoC development, CPU design, SoC layout, chipset functionality, FW and HW security, crypto, and other x86 compute paradigms. Demonstrates effective communication with executives and productive collaboration with peer researchers.
Qualifications
PhD Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related technical discipline and experience in the following:
- proven experience with hardware architecture, design and implementation. Knowledge in developing threat models based on architectural definition
- proven experience in HW/SW Security fields. Relevant security technologies such as cryptography, secure protocols, secure boots, and deep knowledge of security vulnerabilities and attack profiles are required.
- Research focus on memory technologies and Row-hammer techniques and countermeasures.
- Practitioner of fuzzing tools and methods
- HW design using VHDL/System Verilog. Experience with SW and/or HW testing and tools, low level debug
- Experienced conducting security code reviews

Work Model for this Role
This role will be eligible for our hybrid work model which allows employees to split their time between working on-site at their assigned Intel site and off-site.
