Under the School of Science, the Office of Academic Advising and Support aims to provide academic, personal and career advising support to students. The Office plays an important role in promoting success in students’ lives. The incumbent is the person that new students will first encounter and meet regularly during the first year at the University. He/She will help in recognizing students’ strengths and help them achieve their best and realize their dreams.

Job duties:

• Advise prospective and current undergraduate students on program requirements, selection of majors, credit transfer procedures, and graduation requirements;
• Evaluate, resolve, or make appropriate referrals on students’ academic and/or personal issues;
• Familiarize with enrichment activities within and beyond the University, and encourage students’ participation;
• Process and perform statistical analysis to compile reports;
• Coordinate the logistics of advising events and programs;
• Perform any other related duties as assigned or requested.

Applicants should have a bachelor’s degree, preferably in science, education, counselling or social work, with at least 2 years of relevant post-qualification work experiencein the area of youth development. A strong sense of responsibility and the ability to work independently and flexibly are essential. The appointeeshould be self-motivated, organized, confident, and have a strong passion or experience in dealing with adolescents and understand their needs. The appointee should also possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills with high proficiency in written and spoken English and Chinese (Cantonese and Putonghua), good knowledge in IT, software applications as well as Chinese word processing. Shortlisted candidates will be invited for a written test. (Duration: 2 years,renewable)

Starting salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. Fringe benefits including annual leave, medical and dental benefits will be provided.  A gratuity will be payable upon successful completion of contract.
