Job Description

Strategic planning, design, implementation and evaluation of communication measures in the oncology therapy area within Spain. As part of the Marketing Company Communications team develops effective oncology brand and area therapeutic campaigns for one or more categories acting as an expert resource on communications for the OBU.

Plays a key part in delivering against our bold ambition. Will be accountable for building, enhancing and protecting the reputation of AstraZeneca’s pipeline and brands within the OBU and for driving commercial success through impactful communications across internal and external audiences.

Typical Accountabilities

  • This role is responsible for the development, implementation and evaluation of an integrated communication strategy for the treatment area of OBU.
  • Develops and tells a compelling story to bring to life the science-led pipeline and life changing medicines within the Therapy Area in a way that resonates with a wide range of key audiences including employees, partners, medical community, academics and researchers, patients and the media.
  • This role is a key partner for the OBU Spanish Brand and Product Teams working closely with the European Comms team.
  • Strategic and operational advice for the oncology business unit on communication matters.
  • Ensures all communications share a unified, on-brand look and feel that reflect the company’s business priorities and strategy.
  • Design and implementation of press work for professional and public media in cooperation with the oncology  TA´s, organization of press events, writing and voting of press releases. Establishes and expands a resilient contact and network with specialist and leading media.
  • Complies with AZ code of conduct and with local guidelines, codes and policies and procedures.
  • Selection, briefing and control of external partners and service providers.
  • Budget planning, control and monitoring for the oncology area.

Education, Qualifications, Skills and Experience

Mandatory

  • Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communication or related field
  • 5 years communications experience
  • Experience managing PR agencies
  • Ability to understand and interpret scientific and medical data
  • First-rate coordination, collaboration, organization and multi-tasking skills
  • Experience with sales, marketing and commercial communications
  • Experience in crisis management
  • Good level of English

Desirable

  • Corporate and internal communications experience
  • Digital and social media communications experience
