As a Oncology Medical Affairs Head you will be within the oncology business unit and under the direction of the Head of Oncology, Spain. You will be responsible to:
- Define objectives, coordinating and prioritizing the activities of therapeutic area oncology – Establishing the Medical scorecard in Oncology Spain.
- Define, manage and prioritize the medical budget and the allocation of resources to ensure operational excellence, in close collaboration with the Medical Director Europe.
- Ensure scientific leadership, develop scientific and medical excellence, and build an image of AstraZeneca as a key player in oncology by developing innovative and differentiating partnerships.
- Develop and ensure high quality relationships with experts, learned societies, co-operative groups, institutions.
- Support and contribute actively to impact the actions of the oncology Business Unit in Spain
- Work with the Spain Medical Director to ensure Spain Medical Objectives and metrics, including embedding behaviours and minimum standards for the medical team to achieve operational excellence in medical affairs.
- With an entrepreneurial spirit, develop synergies within the team and cross-functionality with the transverse teams: marketing, commercial, market access, regulatory affairs, clinical research, pharmacovigilance, training...
- Build, organize and animate a medical oncology team of excellence to create and deliver the Spain Medical Oncology Plan addressing; portfolio issues, development of skills, ensure talent management and manage team performance.
- To be the guarantor of the content of the internal and external interactions of the team and to ensure compliance and the non-promotional nature of the scientific information issued on the pathology or the product portfolio marketed and in development.
Be a permanent and active member of the Spain Oncology Leadership Team and of the Senior Leadership Europe Medical Team by contributing to the development of the European medical strategy and projects.

Requirements
- Physician, with confirmed expertise in oncology (pharmaceutical industry).
- Experienced managerial experience, management of managers.
- Fluent English and Spanish (C1).
Other Requirements
- At least 10 years in Medical Affairs in the pharmaceutical industry, including more than 5 years in oncology and/or several other therapeutic areas: and having held: similar position in another company for at least 2 years or Therapeutic Area Lead for at least 5 years
- Experience in leading a robust and crossfunctional medical affairs team (more than 5 people), especially with market access.
- Clinical development experience; including working relationships with the MHRA and ABPI and having been a final signatory for >5 years.
