Job Description

As an Oncology Nurse Educator for the New England territory, you’ll play a pivotal role in channeling our scientific capabilities to make a positive impact on changing patients' lives. North American Commercial is the 'face' of AstraZeneca and to our many healthcare clients. They represent many of the most well recognized and respected products in the industry and provide non-promotional product and disease state education to healthcare professionals. The territory covers the New England territory.

AstraZeneca's vision in Oncology is to help patients by redefining the cancer-treatment paradigm, with the aim of eliminating cancer as a cause of death. A broad pipeline of next-generation medicines is focused principally on four disease areas - breast, ovarian, lung and hematological cancers. Other tumor types are being targeted through four key platforms - immunotherapy, the genetic drivers of cancer and resistance, DNA damage repair, and antibody drug conjugates. These platforms are underpinned by personalized healthcare and biomarker technologies.

Reporting to the Nurse Educator Director, the Nurse Educator will implement the Nurse Educator and Precision Medicine and Nurse Education (PM&NE) strategies and provide education to community and academic institutions, hospitals, health care providers and pharmacies by utilizing their professional expertise and clinical training.

Responsibilities

Customer Education:

  • Educate health care providers to support the treatment of patients and support the safe and effective use of AZ products
  • Engage health care practitioners in non-promotional discussions in response to an educational need during both the pre- and post-approval phase of an AZ product to increase disease awareness and quality of patient management
  • Independently develops practical, high-quality, and creative learning and development solutions to meet individual accounts’ needs

Customer Knowledge:

  • Demonstrates deep insight into customer and associated institutional needs
  • Demonstrates an understanding of the various customer segments (e.g. different nursing specialties) and environments (e.g. Community Oncology, Academic Institutions)

Customer Focus & Engagement:

  • Builds credibility and trust during customer interactions by understanding their operational practices, decision-making processes, standards of care, priorities, and potential changes in needs
  • Considers the patient journey and account educational needs and utilizes approved AZ resources to address these need

Strategic Planning & Execution:

  • Develops meaningful nurse education account plans with clear objectives, actions, responsibilities, timelines, and allocation of resources
  • Works closely with other account team members to share information and resolve conflicts in a productive manner allowing the account team to achieve desired results for the account

Teamwork & Collaboration:

  • Contributes to and engages with cross-functional team in a highly integrated way
  • Demonstrates commitment to the key account management process by sharing perspectives, links customer insights and recommends strategies to integrate perspectives across PM&NE solutions
  • Collaborates with commercial and medical team members to ensure that educational strategies and tactics are developed, implemented, monitored, and adjusted as needed to achieve educational objectives

Strategic Agility:

  • Applies Oncology Nurse Educator role-specific clinical knowledge in discussion of product and disease state content, terminology, and concepts with customers

Adverse Events & Patient Management Expertise:

  • Develop and implement comprehensive account plan that embraces the AZ key account management model, incorporating teamwork and key account planning across all cross-functional teams
  • Develops and executes a routing plan to maximize time and impact in the field

Other duties as assigned

Essential Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree

4+ years Oncology nursing

Active RN license for territory

Preferred:

Clinical Nurse Educator or sales professional in pharmaceutical industry
