Job Description

Summary

Ubisoft is seeking an experienced Online DevOps Engineer to join our Global Network Services (GNS) team. The GNS team is composed of Network professionals, Systems Administrators specialized in Microsoft, Linux products, and Network Architects. They apply their expertise to service Ubisoft game development to support business activities in North America, Europe and Asia with the highest degree of quality.

The Online DevOps Engineer is responsible for the design and operations of our Online application servers, with a main focus on games and internal projects, operational activities, proactive capacity management and event monitoring. This position will also function as an integral member of the development team to develop and operate web applications and internal tools.

The selected candidate is a dynamic problem solver and versatile who can commit to resolve problems with impeccable service to our users. He will also contribute to the execution of various projects and will act as a second level support for the Linux systems under his responsibility (including 24/7 pager rotation support).

 

Mission:

The main responsibilities and routine tasks of the Online Linux Systems Administrator (DevOps) are to:

  • Develop, maintain and participate in the supporting life cycle of new IT systems and services; extend existing systems in line with organizational goals particularly focus on IT automation dashboards;
  • Participate actively in the definition, maintenance and evolution of test environments, continuous integration and deployment to ensure the effectiveness of the development cycle; 
  • Deliver or develop applications and tools to increase productivity and comfort of usage in accordance with requirements of client and/or project teams;
  • Assimilate business changes and incorporate them in the IT systems and the daily activities;
  • Maintain code quality and updates;
  • Advanced troubleshooting and complex issue resolution
  • Install, maintain and upgrade Linux OS and various application software;
  • Advanced troubleshooting and complex issue resolution, must be able to work flexible hours and overtime as required;
  • Monitor IT system events to ensure health, maximum system availability and service quality;
  • Participate to the backups and restoration of Online systems;
  • Maintain documentation regarding configurations, operations and troubleshooting procedures related to the Online platforms;
  • Participate to the definition of standards, guidelines, best practices and metrics as directed;
  • Assist in evaluating new requirements, technical design and standards;
     

Qualifications

Knowledge:

System Administration:

  • Expertise in Linux operating systems
  • Knowledge of Open-Source Configuration management software like Chef, Puppet, Salt etc.
  • Knowledge of Open-Source Infrastructure as code tools like, terraform, ansible, pulumi etc.
  • Familiar with Open-Source Technologies and practices
  • Good Knowledge of SQL and NoSQL (MongoDB, MySQL) on server administration and product installation
  • Good knowledge and concept of system security and networking.  (Firewall, Route-Switch, NAT, Proxy, TCP/IP, etc.)
  • Knowledge of Popular monitoring tool is a considerable asset, such as Zabbix, Prometheus, Grafana etc.
  • Knowledge of public cloud deployment and management, such as AWS, GCP, Azure, Ali cloud, Tencent Cloud etc. Multi cloud experience is considerable asset.
  • Knowledge of Containerization technology, such as K8s, vendor specific EKS, AKS etc. more cloud native technology experience is a considerable asset.

Development:

  • Knowledge in Python and be able to learn other languages quickly, such Go, Nodejs
  • Familiar with some basic Framework: RESTful API
  • Familiar with popular devops platform and practice, git, CI/CD, version release process etc.
  • Basic knowledge of database and popular DBMS, such as, Mysql, Mongodb, Couchbase, Redis etc.
  • Good expertise at software development and system design, be able to construct the architecture of software system independently.

 

Experience

  • College or Bachelor Degree or equivalent experience in Computer Information Systems, Computer Science, Mathematics or a related field.
  • 3-5 years of experience in Linux systems administration in a 300+ servers environment
  • 1-2 years of experience in application backend development in Python or Go
  • 1-2 years of experience administrating with DevOps approach
