Open source software is the underpinning of all modern computing systems. Improving security of open source software supply chain is imperative to ensure we can continue to operate in this digitally connected world. It requires research, engineering, education, enablement and collaboration across organizations and projects. As part of the Open Ecosystem team at Intel, we define and ensure alignment of open source strategy across the company. We drive consensus around significant new investments in open platform development and ensure there is consistent and positive presence in the open source communities.
As part of this team, you'll be working to improve security in open source software supply chain. You will be working to enable automated tooling that improves in delivering a more secure software in the open source. You will create and promote best standards and practices around open source security.
As an engineer of the team, you'll be responsible for:
- Coordinate our presence in strategic open source projects from security point of view
- Implement security enhancements to language-specific build systems and package managers
- Work with open source projects to submit improvements to add SBOM support
- Analyze, discover, and patch security vulnerabilities in open-source software
- Collaborate and represent Intel at different open source foundations such as OpenSSF

Qualifications
Minimum qualifications are required to be initially considered for this position. Preferred qualifications are in addition to the minimum requirements and are considered a plus factor in identifying top candidates.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelors Degree 8+ years of experience, Masters Degree 6+ years of experience or PhD 4+ years of experience.
- Degree must be in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, Computational Sciences or related technical discipline.
- Experience in designing and building software products using one of the following Java, Python , C++
- 3+ years' experience in contributing to open source projects
- 1+ years of experience with open source security
Preferred Qualifications:
- General understanding of security vulnerability and attacks.
- 2-years of experience in open source security (e.g. vulnerability testing, CVEs, security patches, etc.)
- Familiarity with DevSecOps practices and CI/CD pipelines
- Excellent team skills and the ability to lead and influence teams, without authority

Annual Salary Range for jobs which could be performed in US, Colorado:
$132,940.00-$199,800.00

Work Model for this Role
This role will be eligible for our hybrid work model which allows employees to split their time between working on-site at their assigned Intel site and off-site.
