Essential Responsibilities: The Manufacturing Shop Operations Manager will demonstrate leadership in communicating business goals, programs, and processes for an area or business segment. In this role you will utilize your experience or expertise to solve problems, develop and execute objectives for self and others, and effect short-term and some long-term business goals.
- Provide total cell / group leadership in the attainment of goals with respect to safety, quality, cost, production and compliance
- Direct process / product improvement programs and provide process method excellence throughout the organization
- Lead cell / group to achieving goals in asset utilization, process / manufacturing loss improvement, delivered quality and cost reduction
- Ensure communication of key business / customer issues to employees
- Direct the manufacturing of production and development of hardware
- Responsible for meeting all established cost, quality, and delivery commitments
- Ensure assigned employees are aware / comply with all GE government, customer and applicable policies, procedures, rules and regulations
- Pursue state of the art technology and processes to enhance product / process producibility and delivered quality requirements
- Interface with other organizations and vendors to assure requirements are met on time
- Develop necessary business plans to enhance all program requirements, including throughput, labor hours, cycle, cost producibility and production line Lean flow.
- Structure assigned organization and staff positions with personnel to accomplish business objectives
- Provide ongoing supervision and counseling for employees, guiding them in current positions and assisting with career development and training
- Develop and implement site-specific Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) programs and processes including emergency preparedness and fire protection, safety risk assessments and safe working procedures for non-office activities, hazardous waste management, H&S training, ergonomics, contractor safety, security access control, manned guarding, and crisis management
- Work with the business operational managers to ensure that all operational activities are clearly identified and risk assessed to ensure safe working procedures are developed and any safety hazards are appropriately controlled (e.g. barriers and engineering controls)
- Drive improvements in compliance processes, employee training, and EHS performance
- Support the facilities team to identify safety and security critical equipment and develop preventative maintenance plans to manage these effectively and compliantly
- Work with the project team to review EHS / Security status of project to ensure a compliant, safe and secure facility is handed-over to operations fully commissioned and tested prior to occupancy
- Responsible for identification and timely submission of all applicable EHS permits (fire safety occupancy permits and any environmental / operating permits required for the operation of the laboratories and turbine training facilities)
- Develop site emergency response plan and incident management team to be operational prior to occupancy
- Develop a training plan to cover both site induction orientations and task specific safety training
- Induct and train local employees and contractors / service companies in basic EHS awareness and GE / local rules, and also on job-specific risks in the laboratories and jet engine training facilities
- Conduct compliance and framework audits and reviews necessary to meet company and local compliance requirements to reduce risk liability
- Establish injury prevention initiatives focused on world-class health and safety performance
- At least 5+ year of related working experiences including 3 years in shop operation leadership position.
- At least 3 additional years of experience EHS management including some manufacturing or service facility experience
- Proven results with experience of leading a large and complex team.
- Demonstrated competent leadership to drive desired outcome.
- Understand and comply with procedures and work instructions
- Stop the process and Report when any abnormality that might cause defects, escaping defect

- Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
- Strong business analysis, problem solving, and strategy development skills
- Knowledge of manufacturing policies and regulations established by GE as well as government and other customers
- Knowledge of the disciplines of manufacturing management such as production and inventory control, and standard cost systems
- Ability to interact with cross-functional teams and at all levels of the organization to help build effective processes
- Six Sigma certificate and Lean experience is preferred
