In this role, you have the opportunity to

Deal with many different type of projects with their own specifics. As Operational Buyer you need to manage the transactional processes in a timely manner ensuring the adequate supply of goods and or services to meet the needs of the organization or the project teams. No day is the same. Purchasing and problem solving are key aspects in this position. You have to liaise with both internal and external customers and suppliers, and resolving issues/queries through the Purchase-to-Pay process supporting the end to end process. For this position you will be working in two different locations (Germany, Netherlands) with their own specific characteristics, both R&D project environments.

You are responsible for

  • Purchase Order processing and creation in SAP. You ensure sourcing requirements are fully reflected in the Purchase Order. You take ownership for delivery reliability, by creating delivery commitment with suppliers and active follow up.

  • Purchase aftercare activities. Manage supply complaints and invoice discrepancies. Interact and team-up in the aftercare phase with procurement, development, logistics and finance whenever appropriate.

  • You pro-actively identify priorities and risks, and anticipate with a solution mindset to prevent hick ups and guarantee a smooth material flow.

  • Participate in continuously improvement activities using the LEAN tool-kit and displaying end-to-end thinking.

  • Follow up incl. first level issue support on purchased parts.

  • Supplier creation in OSCAR system, in alignment with Philips Procurement organization.

  • Supplier complaint handling (SCAR) and supplier performance.

  • Support Logistics and transport coordination.

  • Credit card order handling.

You are a part of

You will be part of the NPI Engineering & Operational Procurement team, which is part of Program Management office and responsible for the tactical and operational end-2-end sourcing support in an international environment.

The team consists of about 10 people and is located at both the Philipsstrasse in Aachen (GE) and the High Tech Campus in Eindhoven (NL).

As Operational Buyer, you report directly to the NPI Operations Manager of Philips Innovation Services (PInS). You will be located partly in Aachen (3-4 days/wk) and partly in Eindhoven (1-2 days/wk), depending on project demand. Travelling to either location is part of this role and location priority may differ per period.

To succeed in this role, you should have the following skills and experience

  • You have a Bachelor degree or similar through on-the-job experience.

  • You have at least 2 years of relevant work experience.

  • Willingness to travel up to 50% of the time. Location would be either Aachen, Germany or Eindhoven, The Netherlands.

  • Relevant procurement certification is a plus.

  • You are a self-starter and capable of independent decision-making.

  • You are motivated to improve processes by removing waste and implementing efficiencies.

  • Fluent in German and English, both written and spoken.
