A Finance manager to lead a team in the execution of Operational Transfer Pricing (OTP) processes within the OTP technology. Processes in scope of responsibility include integrated OTP, marketing company transfer price positions, hub recharges, and segmented P&L.
The role will work closely with the Group Tax OTP Manager and support them in translating transfer pricing policy requirements into process steps executed within the system. Further, the finance manager will support the review and approval of transfer pricing positions by supporting the production and tracking of the operating calendar and providing accurate and timely financial reporting and analysis. Reporting and analysis could be routine as part of transfer pricing cycles or adhoc to support tax audits or other stakeholder requests.
The Finance manager will have overall responsibility to ensure the integrity of the integrated OTP system, having an understanding of each of the processes and their integration with each other. Process operators are located in different parts of the business and it will be up to the Finance Manager to ensure the logical workflow and inter-dependencies between each of the processes, ensuring accuracy of the pre and post recharge segmented P&L:
Working with the Tax System Accountant who is responsible with the IT team to ensure timely and accurate system and data preparation ahead of each transfer pricing cycle
With the Global Finance Services team (GFS) in LATAM, Europe, and APAC who are responsible for execution of marketing company transfer price positions
Directly manage the hub recharge lead in the execution of IP basket and central services recharge
With Finance in their execution of R&D funding model recharge and Pooled Product royalty calculations
With Group Tax Operations in their execution of the Patent Box calculation.
The Finance manager will have two direct reports, the hub recharge lead and the Europe marketing company transfer pricing analyst. A dotted line managerial relationship will be in place with LATAM and APAC transfer pricing analysts.
The role will include the following:
Manage a team (based in LATAM, APAC, Europe) who are responsible for the calculation of ~45 marketing company transfer price positions based upon annual budget, in year forecast, and year end actuals (True up) Perform quality assurance on team members executions ahead of Group tax review and approval With the Group Tax OTP manager translate Transfer Pricing policy, business operation changes, and continuous improvement initiatives into process steps required in the OTP system. Communicate with various stakeholders in Group Tax, Finance, and local markets as per the requirements in the Plan, Gather, and Analyse stages of transfer price execution. Support Group Tax OTP manager in external audits and other requests by providing timely reporting and analysis With the system accountant support any design and testing required as a result of system change
Typical Accountabilities
The Finance Manager is expected to perform at expert level in the following:
OTP System execution - Operates across all processes within the system, managing the timetable, understanding the inter-dependencies, coordinating their operation, performing quality assurance and overall integrity to meet the news of the OTP Tax manager. A super user, first point of contact for operator queries and coordinating with system accountant for any system technical issues (incidents)
Preparation of Segmented P&L – Understand the structure of the AZ P&L and how it interacts with the OTP recharge processes. Understand the design of the segmentation rules and translate any changes required to IT to implement.
Stakeholder Analysis & Change – Manage stakeholder relationship in Plan, Gather, Analyse and support the Group Tax OTP manager in stakeholder relationships in review and approval and adhoc queries on the financial P&L.
Requirements Analysis and Design Definition - Responsible for translating new requirements (from policy, business change continuous improvement) into updated process design to provide to IT to implement changes in the OTP system. With System Accountant perform testing on any changes applied and provide process sign off once acceptance criteria achieved.
Training and Documentation – Responsible for ensuring comprehensive documentation in place to execute the processes in the OTP system. Includes standard operating procedures, process controls, confirmations on adherence to key Transfer Pricing design principles. Coordinates necessary training with IT for any new starters.
Work collaboratively with:
Group Tax OTP Manager to ensure that OTP solutions complies with AZ OTP policy
GFS leadership to coordinate OTP process execution across LATAM, APAC, and Europe
Market Controllers to support review and approval of financial P&L positions pre and post OTP processes
Group Finance teams in the coordination and execution of their responsible OTP process executions (pooled royalty, R&D Funding model
Group Tax Operations (GTO) in the coordination and execution of their responsible Patent Box calculation
System Accountant and IT teams in their execution of system and data preparation, system change, and incident management
Work collaboratively with or take responsibility for:
Hub Recharges lead to ensure timely and accurate calculation of IP Baskets and Central Service recharge
Europe marketing company analyst to ensure timely and accurate calculation of transfer pricing positions
Education, Qualifications, and Experience
Essential
A Financial accounting qualification (ACA, ACCA, ACMA equivalent)
Proven experience of a leadership role in a operational transfer pricing or cost allocation equivalent solution
Proven experience of working with complex integrated systems and data, applying appropriate judgement to deliver exceptional results
Strong engagement, communication and stakeholder management skills, including excellent presentation and influencing skills
Experience of working in a regulated environment
Experience of virtual collaboration to lead, shape and deliver
Experience of mentoring, coaching or developing others
Experience of working with and managing cross functional teams
