Job Description
Eaton’s Electrical Sector is currently seeking an Operations Manager to join our team. This position is based at our Milton, ON facility. Position Overview: As a member of the Site Leadership Team, the primary function of the Operations Manager - is to develop strategic direction, manage labour/capacity, and lead key manufacturing processes/initiatives to ensure that Production, Customer Service, and Continuous Improvement (CI) objectives are met, in accordance with safety, quality, and customer requirements. This role is accountable for efficient creation/level-loading, maintenance, and execution of master Production plans for low-voltage distribution Assemblies, which include: Switchboard (SWBD), Panelboard (PNBD), Automatic Transfer Switch (ATS), and Loadcentre (LC) product lines. The Operations Manager also serves as the tactical liaison between the Plant Manager and the Production Managers/Supervisors, while leading others in achieving organizational goals at the Milton Low Voltage Distribution Assembly facility. The incumbent must have strong leadership competencies and will manage the Production and Order Management Departments and provide support to external customers, as well as internally to Marketing, Satellite Plants and Manufacturing personnel. Area of responsibility is primarily tactical/operational in nature, with localized strategic impact. Job Responsibilities: Accountable for efficient creation/level-loading, maintenance, and execution of master Production plans for Low-voltage distribution Assemblies, which include: SWBD, PNBD, ATS, and LC product lines; Develop workforce strategy to ensure optimal resource allocation between Production areas. Develop and execute operations labour/capacity plans, to support market needs for current and forecasted business, leveraging Eaton Lean Six Sigma (ELSS) tools to eliminate waste and maximize efficiencies. Monitor on-time performance, efficiency, & productivity, utilizing structured problem solving to systematically remedy adverse trends; Build/foster a culture of innovation & continuous improvement, leading key CI initiatives Review new technology and provide consultation and advice to Marketing & Engineering on plant capabilities. Direct the Order Management team, maximizing service levels to internal & external customers. Develop, implement, and monitor procedures and processes for execution, reporting, and delivery of facility goals. Hold regular meetings to review order progress and resolve outstanding order issues to uphold customer commitments. Ensure production objectives are met within approved budget, schedules, and quality specifications; Establish monthly Departmental Overtime budgets, to systematically align labour costs to fluctuating order volumes. Work with Production Managers/Supervisors to develop improvements in production methods, standards and procedures to ensure effective use of resources, leveraging Continuous Improvement Framework (CIF) principles. Review and evaluate Order Management and Production dept. performance against safety, quality, productivity, and CI objectives. Implement changes and productivity improvements without negatively affecting morale or production/throughput. Promote employee participation on site teams, engagement and community involvement. Identify and manage employee development/training, ensuring business continuity by building applicable functional competencies & championing Organizational Capability Assessment process for applicable roles. Drive implementation of facility safety and customer satisfaction programs by establishing and monitoring metrics and requirements, based upon Key Operator Factors and Plant objectives. Support other value-added projects and continuous improvement opportunities, as assigned. Qualifications Required (Basic) Qualifications: University degree or college diploma from an accredited institution. Minimum of 5 years of experience in manufacturing, Inventory Planning or Master Scheduling. Experience managing people. Must be legally eligible to work in Canada without company sponsorship. Preferred Qualifications: Engineered-To-Order planning experience. APICS/CPIM certification. Experience using Oracle ERP. Experience in Procurement/Purchasing and/or Warehouse Management.
