Eaton’s Aerospace Sector, Fuel and Motion Control Division is currently seeking an Operations Manager to join our team. This position is based at our Grand Rapids, MI facility. Relocation assistance is provided. Position Overview: The Operations Manager is a member of the site senior leadership team and is responsible for overall leadership of the Original Equipment and Repairs operations at the Grand Rapids, MI facility. The Operations Manager has the overall responsibility for leading the manufacturing team in achieving production schedule, product quality, product cost, and employee safety goals. The role drives performance and deploys Eaton Lean Six Sigma (ELSS) and Continuous Improvement Framework (CIF) to achieve or exceed financial plans, employee engagement and strategic goals. In this function you will: Manage and direct all manufacturing activities to ensure completion of customer requirements. Assess performance indicators and take appropriate actions to ensure schedule, cost and quality goals are met. Ensure required documentation and/or system transactions are executed to meet customer, manufacturing system, and financial reporting requirements. Assure policies, procedures, and other documentation are followed to ensure consistent and compliant manufactured product. Own the short and long-term capital planning process with an emphasis on infrastructure and productivity. Provide leadership and commitment in support of continuous improvements in quality, productivity and delivery performance through the deployment of continuous improvement framework. Support product design organization through new product introduction phase to ensure customer manufacturing delivery times are met. Assure that Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) issues are addressed considering local regulations, Eaton policy, and good corporate citizenship. Evaluate operational performance of the group to facilitate performance management, merit promotions, job transfers, etc. Manage budgets and resource plans, and monitor performance, to achieve product delivery and cost requirements. Coordinate and assist with plant initiatives, participating on teams in order to drive best practices across enterprise. Coordinate with Human Resources to take care of employee relations issues as they arise within production. Achieve labor productivity, reduction of overtime and lead cost reduction efforts to drive factory cost take out. Champion implementation of MESH to achieve improvement in year-over-year safety performance measures. Qualifications Required (Basic) Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution. Minimum of five (5) years of experience in a manufacturing environment. Minimum of two (2) years of team lead, supervision or management of people experience. This position requires use of information or access to hardware which is subject to International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). All applicants must be US persons within the meaning of ITAR. ITAR defines a US person as a US citizen, US Permanent Resident (i.e. Green Card Holder), Political Asylee, or Refugee. Must be authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship now or in the future. Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree required in business or engineering Experience within the aerospace industry. Lean tool execution and certification in 5S+ and Standard Work with exposure to other lean tools: Value Stream Mapping, 3P, Problem Solving Kaizen, TPM, Set up Reduction. Knowledge of materials planning systems (MRP/ERP) requirements and order generation process logic is preferred Understanding of Supply Chain Management operational concepts (production planning, scheduling, purchasing, supplier selection, inventory control, logistics, stockroom operations, and shipping/receiving) Position Success Criteria: Strong communication and interpersonal skills Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office products Understanding of manufacturing technologies and processes Leadership, coaching and influence management skills Ability to prioritize and multi-task What you’ll get from us: We provide benefits that are industry competitive and focused on employee well-being.
