Job Description

The Professional Accelerated Cross-Functional Experience (PACE) develops entry level professional talent for Plant Spartanburg in areas which may include the following: Engineering; Manufacturing/Operations Management; Supply Chain Management, Accounting & Finance; Human Resources; Information technology; and other professional functions. The program consists of rotations through three (3) assignments of eight (8) months each in a variety of the functional areas listed above. Rotation assignments are chosen based on business need and may include open jobs as well as project responsibilities. Performs all duties outlined in the Assignment Objectives for each rotation. Works independently to carry out assigned project responsibilities and meets all deliverables within designated deadlines. Meets performance targets, goals, scorecard metrics defined in the Assignment Objectives; provides immediate notice to Assignment Supervisor if targets and/or agreements cannot be met. Completes each rotations technical & process skills training plan (BMW specific systems and processes) as outlined in the Assignment Objectives. Completes the PACE program training curriculum within designated deadlines. Participates in all PACE program assigned meetings including Round Tables, meetings with Mentor and PACE Program Manager, Inside Scoop Sessions, and other applicable meetings. Provides immediate feedback or escalation to Assignment Supervisor and/or PACE Program Manager regarding any issues, concerns, conflicts. Adheres to all applicable BMW policies, processes, and instructions, and acts in accordance with the BMW Leadership Competencies and the Principles outlined in the Strategy NUMBER ONE > Next. Follows direction and guidance provided by Assignment Supervisor and PACE Program Manager. Establishes working networks with peers and management Associates to ensure assignment effectiveness and to support career development goals. Understands and models VPS (Value Added Production System) Principles and concepts of Standard Work and Problem Solving. Adheres to 5S and Safety Standards and Principles. Performs other duties as assigned by management.

  • BA/BS degree or Masters degree in one of the following disciplines: Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Business, Human Resources, Information Technology, or related field from an accredited university.
  • Degree must be completed within 12 months prior to the program start date.
  • Overall cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher.
  • Minimum 3 months of Intern/Co-op or equivalent job experience in a discipline area related to degree and/or professional focus, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
  • Training in BMW specific systems, leadership and professional development will be provided during term of assignment.
  • Basic understanding of business strategy and concepts.
  • Analytical approach to problem solving.
  • Strong interpersonal & communications skills.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience.
  • High degree of flexibility, initiative and self-motivation.
  • Process Control and Project Management (preferred).
  • Intermediate to advanced German language skills (preferred).
