The Release Train Engineer (RTE) is a servant leader and coach for the Agile Release Train (ART). The RTE’s major responsibilities are to facilitate the ART ceremonies and processes and assist the teams in delivering value. The RTE communicates with stakeholders, escalates impediments, helps manage risks, drives relentless improvement, and creates an environment of mutual influence in which the agile teams can smoothly collaborate.
The RTE facilitates ART processes and execution, respectively. Many also participate in the Lean-Agile transformation, coaching leaders, teams, and Scrum Masters in the new processes and mindsets as well as support teams and individuals in their personal development. They help configure SAFe to the organization’s needs, standardizing and documenting practices.
Your tasks will be:
- Facilitate PI Planning readiness by fostering Continuous Exploration which drives the synthesis of a Vision, a Roadmap, and Backlogs, and through Pre- and Post-PI Planning ceremonies
- Summarize Team PI Objectives into Program PI Objectives and publish them for visibility and transparency
- Assist Product Management tracking the execution of features and capabilities, help manage risks and dependencies and provide input to Product Management on resourcing to address critical bottlenecks
- Assist with economic decision-making by facilitating feature and capability estimation by teams
- Regular alignment and collaboration with RTE community of OPS Transformation Program
- Foster Communities of Practice and the use of engineering and Built-In Quality practices
