Job Description

Two postdoctoral positions are available in the Kumar lab at Texas A&M University on projects funded by the NIH to study inflammation in the gastrointestinal tract. The Kumar lab is focused on understanding how inflammation in the gastrointestinal tract leads to obesity, inflammatory bowel disease and metabolic syndrome. Within this context, we focus on the regulation of gastrointestinal immunocytes and enterocytes networks, with particular interests in clarifying the role of mucosal epithelial-immunocyte-microbiota in gastrointestinal physiology and elucidating how these regulate low-grade chronic inflammation associated IBD and metabolic syndrome. We are addressing this issue by exploring how interactions between gastrointestinal immune system, mucosal epithelial cells and microbiota regulate gut physiology and pathophysiology.

Applicants should possess a Ph.D. or M.D. degree and have experience in immunology and/or gastrointestinal physiology. Experience in working with mice, setting up and maintaining breeding colony, histochemistry, FACS analysis and cellular imaging would be beneficial. Excellent communication skills (both written and oral) and the ability to work as a team member are essential. The position requires the ability to lead projects and work co-operatively with others. Ideal candidates will have excellent organizational and time management skills.

Interested candidates should apply online by uploading the required documents through the link: https://jobs.tamhsc.edu/postings/5662 Review of applicants will begin immediately and continue until the position is filled. Please contact Narendra Kumar (nkumar(at)tamhsc.edu) for further details.
