Microsoft’s Devices Group is seeking a Electrical Engineer to join our NPI Product Engineering team supporting Surface, Xbox, and Hololens products. We desire a candidate with the ability to investigate and resolve system-level engineering issues that occur in prototyping and manufacturing ramp. Candidates who are relentlessly curious, excellent communicators, and driven to continuously improve upon previous successes will excel within our team.
Responsibilities
The NPI Product Engineering team collaborates with hardware development and manufacturing teams throughout the product development cycle, from early prototyping to mass production. We identify and resolve design and manufacturing concerns which are detected at our contract manufacturing sites. We apply robust root cause analysis techniques to identify the sources of defects and develop corrective actions to improve design, material, test, and process. Finally, the team provides technical guidance for the rework and recovery of defective devices and materials.
As an NPI Product Engineer, you will utilize engineering analysis, theory, and statistical methods to characterize failures observed in prototype and early production builds. You will use the collected knowledge to design experiments, validate theories, and propose corrective actions which resolve these failures and improve production yield. Daily activities will include analysis in laboratory and manufacturing environment, working with contract manufacturing teams to resolve challenges, and presenting findings and solutions to peers and management.
