Job Description
Position Summary
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated PYP (Primary Years Programme) Arts Teacher to join our international school community. The ideal candidate will inspire young learners to explore creativity, self - expression, and cultural appreciation through the arts, aligning with the IB PYP framework.
Key Responsibilities
Curriculum Delivery
Design and implement engaging PYP - aligned arts lessons (encompassing visual arts, music, drama, and dance as appropriate) for students in the primary years, fostering inquiry - based learning.
Integrate transdisciplinary themes into arts instruction, helping students make connections between the arts and other subject areas.
Student Engagement & Development
Nurture students’ creativity, confidence, and artistic skills, providing differentiated instruction to meet diverse learning needs.
Facilitate student - led arts projects, exhibitions, and performances, encouraging self - reflection and peer feedback.
Collaboration
Work closely with PYP homeroom teachers and subject specialists to plan and deliver integrated units of inquiry.
Participate in grade - level and school - wide curriculum development, assessment, and professional learning communities.
Assessment & Reporting
Use a variety of formative and summative assessment strategies to track student progress in the arts, in line with PYP assessment principles.
Communicate student achievement and growth to parents, administrators, and other stakeholders through regular reports and conferences.
Arts Community & Culture
Contribute to building a vibrant school arts culture, organizing arts - related events (e.g., art shows, talent shows, music recitals).
Explore local and global arts resources to enrich the learning experience and promote cultural understanding.
Qualifications & Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Arts Education, Fine Arts, or a related field; a teaching degree (e.g., B.Ed.) is required.
Valid teaching certification, with experience in IB PYP education preferred.
Strong knowledge of primary - level arts education, including visual arts, music, drama, and dance pedagogies.
Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills to work effectively with students, colleagues, and parents.
A creative and innovative approach to arts teaching, with the ability to inspire young learners.
Working Conditions
Full - time position, reporting to the PYP Coordinator.
School year schedule, with opportunities for professional development and participation in school events outside of regular instructional hours.
