1. Job Summary

The PYP Coordinator provides pedagogical and strategic leadership for the implementation, development, and quality assurance of the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme (PYP) across the primary school. This role works collaboratively with the Head of School, teaching staff, students, parents, and the IB organization to ensure the programme aligns with IB standards, school vision, and educational best practices.

2. Key Responsibilities

2.1 Curriculum Leadership & Implementation

Lead and oversee the full implementation of the PYP across all grade levels, ensuring alignment with IB standards, school philosophy, and the school's Programme of Inquiry (POI).
Guide teachers in designing transdisciplinary, concept-driven inquiry units, facilitating collaborative planning meetings to ensure curriculum coherence and vertical articulation.
Coordinate the Programme Evaluation process, preparing all required documentation for IB and other international accreditation bodies.
2.2 Teacher Support & Professional Development

Serve as an instructional leader, providing mentorship, coaching, and professional guidance to teachers on PYP pedagogy, Approaches to Learning (ATL), and inquiry-based teaching strategies.
Organize and coordinate both on-site and off-site professional development opportunities, ensuring all teaching staff maintain IB training requirements.
Conduct classroom observations and provide constructive feedback to support teacher growth and student learning outcomes.
2.3 Liaison with the IB Organization

Act as the primary point of contact between the school and the International Baccalaureate Organization (IBO), handling all official communications, programme updates, training registrations, and policy changes.
Maintain and update the school's Programme Development Plan (PDP) to ensure ongoing compliance with IB Programme standards and practices.
2.4 Parent & Community Engagement

Organize regular parent information sessions and workshops to build understanding of the PYP curriculum, inquiry-based learning, and student assessment practices.
Contribute to school newsletters and communications to share PYP updates, student learning stories, and programme highlights with the wider school community.
Support the admissions team by presenting the PYP framework to prospective families during school tours and enrolment events.
2.5 Administration & Resource Management

Assist in developing the primary school timetable to accommodate collaborative planning, specialist lessons, and inquiry blocks.
Oversee the PYP teaching resource library, ensuring accessibility and relevance of materials for inquiry-based learning.
Lead the review and revision of Scope and Sequence documents for all subject areas within the PYP framework.
Participate in student admissions assessments and interviews as required.
3. Qualifications & Requirements

Category Minimum Requirements
Education Bachelor's or Master's degree in Education, Early Childhood, or a related field.
Teaching Certification Valid teaching license/certification (e.g., PGCE, QTS, US State Teaching License, or equivalent).
Experience Minimum 5 years of primary school teaching experience, with at least 2–3 years of teaching or coordinating within the IB PYP framework.
IB Training Completion of IB-recognized PYP professional development (Category 1, 2, or 3 workshops preferred).
Language Proficiency Native or near-native fluency in English (both spoken and written); additional language skills are an advantage.
