THE GIG

Report to Head of Development, this incumbent is responsible for develop and implement package strategy for APAC markets, sourcing packaging materials as required by the Design & Development and Sourcing team. This will cover footwear, accessories and the requirements from Global DC's.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for developing and managing packaging solutions throughout development process from initial concept to samples, including delivery of transparent pricing.
• Proactively complete research and analyse the current market situation and develop strategies for supply chain capacity, planning and technology development
• Manage suppliers from seasonal forecasts to bulk production, liaise with Head of Development to ensure available capacities meet business demands
• Evaluate supplier performance to help prevent product issues and post-payment defects and drive improvements in the supply chain
• Ensure suppliers meet the company’s Corporate Social Responsibility and General Materials Requirements (Banned Substance) Policy
• Develop, Implement and maintain a Purchasing Policy/Manual for all packaging materials that gives clarity to new and existing suppliers on our requirements as a customer from technical and commercial standpoints, including Ethical Trading and banned substance conformity
• Manage Supply base numbers to ensure the number of suppliers is focussed but sufficient
• Compile and maintain suppliers’ database, materials database, swatch Library and master pricing also including records of conformity to GMR Policy

Requirements

• Minimum of 6 years’ experience in packaged goods industry, global retail business will be an advantage
• Familiar with the specificities of Asian sourcing and liaising with Asian suppliers
• Clear understanding of packaging designs, materials, equipment and systems
• Experienced in footwear and accessories environment with knowledge of product development, costing, bulk manufacture.
• Demonstrated excellent analytical, organizational, interpersonal, communication, presentation and people skills
• Project Management and technical skills experience are essential to effectively deliver packaging to meet project timelines
• Knowledge of Supply Chain and procurement practices, business operation and timeline is desirable.
• Excellent spoken and written English, fluency in Mandarin / Cantonese
