Packaging Technology Engineer – Nashville, TN
The purpose of the job is to lead new complex packaging design and development projects across platforms (Dry, Wet and C&T) for Mars Petcare, from concept through to implementation in our factory network on accelerated timelines.
What are we looking for?
- University degree in a technical discipline with experience in a technical field – ideally in the packaging area.
- 3-5+ years of job experience in the areas of packaging development, engineering or a technically related discipline – ideally in multiple technologies over the period of time.
- Demonstrated understanding of primary pack and the delivery of primary packs to market.
- Professional knowledge in packaging technology and testing.
- Computer proficiency in MS Office applications.
- Good command in English (verbally and written).
- Excellent interpersonal skills, e.g. communication, relations building, networking, team spirit.
What would be your key responsibilities?
- Will lead the technical packaging design and development for a variety of complex projects (Innovation).
- Will lead the development of new packaging concepts, materials and their testing methods.
- Accountable for the success of line trials in Mars Petcare factories/suppliers/co-packers including the relevant documentation and presentation of results.
- Responsible for producing packaging samples in the Packaging Lab or through suppliers.
- Accountable for ensuring our packaging systems are fit for purpose e.g. Veritas
- Accountable for delivering robust packaging specifications.
- Accountable for all packaging project deliveries.
- Lead the proactive management of Intellectual Property risks and opportunities.
- Will lead project risk management and inform/influence the project team.
- Will lead and challenge trade requirements, and on-shelf/off-shelf impact in all channels including Grocery, Specialist pet trade, hard discounters and E-commerce.
- Accountable to ensure packaging solutions deliver to business model as part of segment strategy.
- Accountable for building functional excellence in Packaging Materials, Process and scale up.
- Accountable for providing training and support to other associates, within the Packaging fields in which the job holder has expertise.
