Food Server
The Server will possess a passion to anticipate and meet and exceed our guest’s needs and will also possess an insatiable desire to attain the highest levels of quality and cleanliness in all areas of the Food and Beverage Operations. The Server must provide prompt, courteous and efficient food and beverage service in a luxury 5-diamond brand inspired hotel environment where attention to detail is key.
Requirements
- Proficient in the English language (verbal & written), second language is an asset.
- Basic computer knowledge (Silverware or other POS Systems).
- Previous food and beverage experience in a luxury hotel setting is an asset.
- Must be of minimum age to serve alcohol according to state law.
- Must be physically fit in order to lift trays of food or food items up to 50 pounds.
- Must be physically fit in order to transport trays of food or food items up to 50 pounds through staircase from kitchen to restaurant.
- Must be able to stand and walk throughout entire shift.
- Must have a very flexible schedule including weekends and holidays.
- Food handling certificate is an asset.
- Know and implement standards/procedures and sequence of service consistently.
- Knowledge of food, wine, Fame cocktails, spirits and water
- Excellent eye for detail and the ability to multi-task.
- Team player and willing to help out other Food and Beverage outlets.
- Must possess outstanding guest services skills and professional presentation.
- Must be effective at handling problems in the workplace, including anticipating, preventing, identifying, and solving problems as necessary.
- Must maintain composure and objectivity under pressure.
- Must be effective at listening, understanding, and clarifying the concerns and issues raised by guests.
Responsibilities:
Arrival
- Report to manager at exact beginning of each scheduled shift fully groomed according to 5 Star Plaza Standards with all personal service supplies on hand.
- Punch in and out for all shifts in full uniform ready to begin shift.
- Read communication board/log book.
Pre-Shift
- Communicate with out going shift, if applicable.
- Participate in departmental meetings and shift line-ups.
- Know your shifts and station assignments.
- Know the ingredients, preparation, and proper presentation of all menu items and specials and ensure that every product delivered to the guest adheres to the highest quality possible.
Service
- Greet each guest within 1 minute after seating in a sincerely warm , friendly manner using the guest name( at least three times).
- Demonstrate 5 Star Plaza Standards in all interactions.
- Demonstrate an attitude of friendly hospitality in every aspect of service.
- Remain observant and responds to each guest at all times.
- Provide prompt, courteous and efficient food and beverage service.
- Maintain cleanliness and condition of the work areas and equipment.
- Perform all assigned side works regularly, promptly, and correctly.
- Effectively handle customer concerns.
- Implement standards/procedures of service for guests consistently as per outlet’s sequence of service.
- Make appropriate suggestion of food and beverages; employ suggestive selling and up selling techniques.
- Take guests' order promptly according to standards.
- Receive and service beverage orders promptly according to standards.
- Perform wine service according to procedures.
- Time food orders correctly to ensure they come up at the proper time.
- Ensure table maintenance is up to Plaza 5 Star Standards during the entire dining experience as per attached sequence of events.
- Key in (pre checks) order on the Micros terminal promptly and accurately.
- Clear and Flip tables
- Assist with running and serving food to the tables
- Assist with retrieving service equipment from stewarding areas
- Assist the Server Assistants and Food runners whenever necessary to ensure superior guest service.
- Perform cash outs.
Post-Shift
- Ensure your workstation including side station is clean, neat, restocked and in order.
- Complete all closing side work regularly, promptly, and correctly and receive Manager Signature upon completion.
- Bring all dishes back to the stewarding area.
- Retrieve cleaned restaurant equipments from stewarding area and return to restaurant.
