Job Description

A Part-time Air Traffic Control Simulator Operator is mainly deployed (a) to operate the pseudo-pilot workstations of the Radar Simulator and Control Tower Simulator; (b) to update the database of the simulators and to assist in the preparation of simulator exercises; (c) to update teaching material and to assist in the training of pseudo-pilots attending the pseudo-pilot training courses; (d) to supervise on-the-job training of pseudo-pilot trainees; and (e) to perform any other functions in support of the Training Unit. He/She is expected to work mostly in normal office hours but may be required to work in irregular hours when necessary. He/She is required to provide at least 5 available days between Monday and Friday for duties per month. Working hours per week will normally be less than 18 hours.

[Note : Training on the use of aviation phraseology and operations of the air traffic control simulator workstations will be provided.]

General Notes: (a) Candidates must be permanent residents of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region at the time of appointment unless specified otherwise.

(g) Holders of academic qualifications other than those obtained from Hong Kong institutions/Hong Kong Examinations and Assessment Authority may also apply but their qualifications will be subject to assessments on equivalence with the required entry qualifications. Requirements

Candidates should -
(a) (i) have Grade E or above in two subjects at Advanced Level in the Hong Kong Advanced Level Examination and Level 3 [Note 1] / Grade C or above in three other subjects in the Hong Kong Certificate of Education Examination (HKCEE) [Note 2], or equivalent, plus at least one year of working experience in aviation field [Note 4]; or
(ii) have Level 3 or equivalent [Note 3] or above in five subjects in the Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education Examination (HKDSEE) [Note 2], or equivalent, plus at least one year of working experience in aviation field [Note 4]; or
(iii) have Level 2 [Note 1] / Grade E or above in five subjects in HKCEE [Note 2], or equivalent, plus at least three years of working experience in aviation field; or
(iv) have Level 2 or equivalent [Note 3] or above in five subjects in HKDSEE [Note 2], or equivalent, plus at least three years of working experience in aviation field;
(b) met the language proficiency requirement of Level 3 [Note 1] or above in English Language in HKDSEE or HKCEE, or equivalent;
(c) be able to communicate fluently in English; and
(d) be familiar with computer operations.

Note: (1) For non-civil service appointment purpose, “Grade C” and “Grade E” in Chinese Language and English Language (Syllabus B) in the HKCEE before 2007 are accepted administratively as comparable to “Level 3” and “Level 2” respectively in Chinese Language and English Language in the 2007 HKCEE and henceforth.
(2) The subjects may include Chinese Language and English Language.
(3) For non-civil service appointment purpose, “Attained with Distinction” in Applied Learning subjects (subject to a maximum of two Applied Learning subjects), and Grade C in Other Language subjects in the HKDSEE are accepted as equivalent to Level 3 in the New Senior Secondary subjects in the HKDSEE. “Attained” in Applied Learning subjects (subject to a maximum of two Applied Learning subjects), and Grade E in Other Language subjects in the HKDSEE are accepted as equivalent to Level 2 in the New Senior Secondary subjects in the HKDSEE.
(4) Candidates who do not possess working experience in aviation field but have attended study programme(s) with aviation-related components may also apply. The name of the study programme(s) should be provided on the application form and copies of certificate or record of attendance should be provided as supporting documents to the application for determination of aviation relevance of the programme(s).

Terms of Appointment: Successful candidates will be appointed on non-civil service contract terms for a period of one year.

Salary: HK$299 per hour
