Job Description
Major Duties and Responsibilities
The appointee shall assist the Project Investigator in conducting a research project examining the Chinese writing composed by secondary students in Hong Kong. He/She will mainly be responsible for the following:

  • prossessing Chinese language data;
  • conducting statistical analysis on Chinese language data;
  • preparing research reports; and
  • carrying out other relevant tasks as assigned by Project Investigator.

Requirements
Applicants are expected to possess the following qualifications, experience and attributes:

  • a doctorate degree in Psycholinguistics or other language-related disciplines, OR a master’s degree in related disciplines with a track record of research and publication;
  • research experience in corpus linguistics and/or natural language processing;
  • excellent written and oral communication skills in English and Chinese (Cantonese and Mandarin); and
  • preference will be given to those with knowledge of R or Python.  

 

Compensation Package
Successful candidate will be appointed on a temporary part-time contract starting from July 2020 for 4 months.  Benefits will be provided in accordance with the statutory provisions.
