What you will be doing:

  • Consistently offer professional, friendly and engaging service 
  • Responsible for maintaining the Hotel’s labor management and payroll system.
  • Maintain system of accounts and controls, providing accurate data necessary for all required accounting reports and statements.
  • Prepare and post daily journals and month end journal entries, ensuring efficient completion of all month-end functions
  • Process all payroll discrepancies and wage garnishments
  • Responsible for verifying the interface between Ceridian/Dayforce and Watson/Unifocus
  • Assist in the completion of financial statements, management reports in accordance with Corporate Policies & Procedures for review. 
  • Assist in the preparation of month-end balance sheet account reconciliation and analysis.
  • Process all retirement contributions and funding. 
  • Assist in the preparation for internal/external audits and/or union claims/requests.
  • Responsible for the supervision of the Hotel’s payroll systems, management of union benefits, vacation and PTO.
  • Responsible for leading the weekly labor meeting
  • Responsible for maintaining Watson/Unifocus system, entering KPI’s, generating and distributing labor management reports
  • Assist departments in the interpretation, orientation, training and analysis of accounting matters.
  • Coordinate and ensure that all daily, semi-monthly and monthly management reports are issued on a timely and accurate basis.
  • Assist in the effective utilization and integration of hotel and accounting technology systems, including software applications, current and future.
  • Ensure that  payroll data is accurate and submitted on time to the payroll provider for processing 
  • Develop an engaged, enthusiastic and guest driven department.
  • Represent the accounting office and the Assistant Director, Finance & Business Support in their absence.
  • Actively contribute to hotel overall leadership and direction.
  • Other tasks as assigned.



Your experience and skills include:

  • Professional designation or acceptable university degree with an appropriate specialization in Accounting and Payroll management or enrolled in a recognized accounting program with progression.
  • Minimum of 3 years-accounting experience and previous accounting experience at a supervisory/managerial level.
  • Exposure to full service/luxury hotel with 250+ employee with complex payroll
  • Experience with union hotel
  • Proven leadership and coaching skills with a track record of developing a highly motivated and cross-trained group of progressive accounting professionals.
  • Familiarity with hotel operating systems and software, including Ceridian Payroll System, Wason/Unifocus, Opera, Silverware
  • Familiarity with Principal, Mass Mutual, John Hancock
  • Intermediate excel level, advanced preferred
  • Excellent administrative, interpersonal, organizational, written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills with strong attention to detail 
  • Highly responsible & reliable 
  • Strong interpersonal and problem solving abilities 
  • Ability to work cohesively as part of a team 
  • Ability to focus attention on guest needs, remaining calm and courteous at all times
