Job Description

The Payroll Time and Labor Lead works as a key member of the Payroll team leading the Time and Labor function. The Time and Labor group works across sites in the US, Puerto Rico, and Canada to ensure the Time and Labor system is properly tracking time, shift differentials, overtime, vacation accruals, and local holiday rules. This position is responsible for managing a small team and reports to the Payroll Operations Manager.

Main Responsibilities

  • Oversees time administration activities for North America.
  • Ensures high quality service delivery for all time system programs and policies.
  • Responsible for the successful time administration of payroll.
  • Ensures data/time is managed effectively between time keeping technology to payroll platform in an efficient and effective manner.
  • Works with Time and Labor team trouble shoot any issues with data, interfaces or time clocks.
  • Analyze biweekly time reports and variances, identifies system inefficiencies, and implements system/process enhancements.
  • Ensures time files are successfully managed to ensure timely payroll processing.
  • Manage time and payroll related projects to ensure system is legally compliant.
  • Manage requests, analysis, and project requests.
  • Trains internal team members and site time keepers in roles and responsibilities.
  • Coaches team on service delivery and effective customer service.
  • Confirm pay codes are configured to local labor laws and site policy.
  • Assist with Tier 2 escalation and manages case load in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Proficient skills using MS Excel.
  • Extremely detail-orientated and accurate.
  • Proven relationship building and conflict resolution skills.

Position qualifications/requirements

Education

  • BA/BS in Management, HR. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted as a satisfactory substitute for the specific education listed above.

Experience

  • Minimum 4 years dedicated multi-state payroll experience with a large employer supporting payroll for 5,000+ employees within the U.S., Puerto Rico and/or Canada.
  • 3 years previous supervisory/lead experience required, with the proven ability to manage and develop associates.
  • Experience working in mid/large complex matrixed environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality of information.
  • Ability to work with accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Strong mathematical skills with ability to research, analyze, and correct time and payroll data.
  • Ability to communicate in a precise and clear manner.
  • Strong interpersonal skills; able to develop and maintain effective working relationships with all levels of internal/external contacts.
  • Knowledge of payroll practices in Puerto Rico and Canada preferred.

Knowledge and Skills

  • Required: Strong knowledge and understanding of various time and labor laws including overtime and meal period rules.
  • Experience with 3rd party Time and Labor system such as ADP Enterprise eTime or Kronos supporting more than 1,000 associates.
  • Required: Microsoft Office Suite with an emphasis in Excel and Word.
  • eTime or Kronos experience preferred.
  • CPP or FPC preferred.
