We are looking for an exceptional managing editor who is passionate about travel to lead the development and execution of Pelago’s content strategy across Asia Pacific. In addition to playing a formative role in the heart of Pelago’s product by curating the experiences we feature and articles we produce, the managing editor will lead a team of regional content editors, media partners, and production houses in growing our presence across multiple geographies.

 

This role reports directly to the Head of Product and will be based in Singapore.

 

What you will do:

• Refine the vision and strategy for how Pelago identifies and curates experiences to feature
• Refine the process for content acquisition and creation across images, descriptions, details, user reviews, and language translation for experiences
• Develop the production and syndication strategy for media including travel articles and video
• Ensure consistently high editorial quality and relevant tone of voice for all content
• Manage content coordinators to ensure quality control of all published content
• Lead and manage a team of junior content editors and coordinators in the execution of the content strategy and growth across multiple regions
• Engage with users and the travel community to stay up to date on travel trends and develop content partnerships
• Develop and manage partnerships with outsourced providers in identifying experiences and creating content
• Work with growth marketing team to utilise content for content marketing and SEO
• Administer an internal content management system and provide product feedback to technical team

 

Who we are looking for:

• 5+ years experience working in travel media
• Experienced editor of written content or a travel publication
• Experienced travel writer
• Proven success leading and managing a team of writers
• Relevant industry experience at a travel booking platform
• Experience in a startup or high growth company
• Advanced fluency in English for reading, writing and speaking
• Seasoned traveller across Asia Pacific who knows how to beat the tourist traps and find authentic and local hidden gems
• Passionate about travel, with a love for experiences and adventure
• Discerning foodie with an eye for the latest trends
• Appreciation for and understanding of cultural nuances across Asia Pacific
