Position Objective:

• Support soft goods brands to translate their social & environmental goals and approach into measurable actions and progress within their global supply chain;
• Work closely with brand supply chain environmental programs and provides data and insights needed to prioritize improvements.

Key Responsibilities:

• Work closely with soft goods brands to understand the sustainability approach and drive sustainability performance improvements in the global supply chain;
• Partner with brands’ sustainability teams to develop and prototype an environmental capability building program for suppliers based on needs and brand priority areas (including but not limited to carbon accounting, energy efficiency, environmental management systems, chemicals management, etc);
• Partner with brands to evaluate opportunities for impact reduction at supply chain partners using Higg Facility Environment Module (FEM) & bluesign tools;
• Deliver and/or coordinate formal & informal trainings in-person, via webinar, sourcing summits, etc to build environmental capabilities and knowledge with suppliers;
• Communicate with suppliers on a regular basis to strengthen relationships and build two-way dialogue and trust to catalyze action on facility performance improvements;
• Support performance improvement projects which may include: energy efficiency, renewable feasibility studies, water and chemical usage at finished good and wet-processing facilities;
• Support brands supply chain objectives by providing inputs for brand communications, supply chain process and impact mapping, performance metrics, and other projects as they arise. ;
• Provide support and expertise within Amer Group across categories, where useful and aligned with brand goals and objectives;
• Where applicable, support and contribute to social & labor performance improvement.

Qualifications /experience and Skills:

• Undergraduate or graduate studies in environmental science, environmental or chemical engineering;
• 5+ years experience in a relevant field including: environmental approvals & permitting, energy efficiency or renewables, water or wastewater treatment, environmental chemistry, contaminated sites and relevant industry such as consulting, corporate sustainability, apparel & footwear. Other relevant work experience will be considered;
• Some exposure to greenhouse gas metrics and reporting standards (e.g. GHG Protocol) would be an asset;
• Exposure to the outdoor or apparel industry sector and related tools (eg. Bluesign, Higg Index, OIA CM Guide) would be an asset;
• Exposure to social labor audit programs (e.g. BSCI, FLA, etc) would be an asset;
• Experience working effectively and respectively across geographical regions and cultures in a teaching, training, or facilitation manner;
• Strong communication skills for distilling technical concepts into simple audience-specific actions for suppliers;
• Excellent data analysis and data management skills with an eye to the big picture;
• Skilled at working cross-functionally;
• Committed to identifying root cause of issues and developing solutions that may not be the easiest but are the right thing to do;
• Flexible and solutions oriented when faced with complexity and ambiguity;
• Effectively balances autonomy and collaboration;
• Comfort with learning by doing and prototyping.

Other Special Remarks:

• Travel required throughout Asia;
• Flexible for working across time zones with European & North American based brand colleagues;
• Proficient in English and Chinese, and another Asian language would be an asset ( Vietnamese, Japanese etc).
