Procurement actively leads the sourcing of over $9BN of goods and services needed every year by AZ, building relationships with reputable suppliers.  

The Strategy & Operational Excellence Team is the backbone of the procurement organisation and is responsible for driving performance, risk & compliance, commercial strategy, portfolio & productivity and people & supplier performance globally across the procurement function.

Job Brief:

As the Performance & Productivity Lead within the Productivity & Portfolio team you will be responsible for defining, driving and reporting on the performance of the Procurement Function. You will use our systems data to highlight performance excellence and opportunity, across different areas within Procurement to support an increase in overall productivity of the function.

You will work across all Procurement Teams and areas globally, highlighting best practise and driving improvement awareness across the network and to the Procurement Leaders.

You will highlight efficiency opportunities and support the continuous improvement and evolution of our processes, and you will evolve our reporting metrics as we transition through Fix, Transform and Set Best Practise.

It will also be important to understand wider company strategic drivers and initiatives and ensure we drive and measure our impact and alignment to these.

Your role will be fundamental to the success of Procurement as we drive to Fix, Transform and Set Best Practise through our Operating Model and associated metrics, and you will drive continuous review, measure and improvements to ensure we are optimising our resources globally.

Responsibilities to include:

  • Working alongside the Operating Model & Strategy Lead you will report on the ‘Health of Procurement’ covering a wide remit of metrics on our People, Processes, Systems and Strategy.
  • Lead governance reviews on the performance of the Procurement Function, driving best practise awareness and improvement.
  • You will work across the Procurement Network and use the metric data and reporting to identify opportunity for process improvement, driving positive change to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the function.
  • Using external and internal best reference, you will evaluate the value add of metrics to ensure they drive visibility and insight that drives improvement.
  •  You will work with the Commercial Excellence & Analytics group to inform them on data requirements that will support the insights needed for future productivity improvements.

Key Requirements:

  • Proven experience in performance management across a complex global and matrix organisation.
  • Strong data and analytical skills with great attention to detail.
  • Experience in Procurement processes and operating models.
  • Good process improvement experience, and continuous improvement mind-set.
  • Excellent communication and reporting skills, taking complex data and making the message simple and digestible for multiple audiences.
  • A strong influencer with good cultural awareness to support change and assess opportunity.
  • A passion for continuous improvement and the ability to problem solve at process level.
  • Ability to work with teams and individually in a highly dynamic and exciting environment.
