Mars has publicly committed to a set of ambitious 2025 goals for packaging including a target of 100% recyclable, reusable or compostable plastic packaging and a 25% reduction in virgin plastic.  Action on packaging sustainability is critical in maintaining the relevance of our brands and driving business growth in an external environment where retailers, regulators and pet parents have an increasing expectation for action.

Good quality data is a critical enabler for our sustainability program and is required for a range of purposes, including internal strategy development, tracking of progress against KPIs and external reporting to customers, regulators and NGOs. This new role has been created to enable the efficient and effective management of segment sustainability data, as well as advancing our data capabilities. The primary focus of this role is on packaging sustainability data with the potential for broader scope over time.

What are we looking for?

• Degree in finance, economics, business, mathematics, chemistry, biology, physics or computer science
• Experience of data collection, analysis and reporting systems
• Hands-on data management and data analysis experience; experience of database building, data mining, multivariate analysis and predictive modelling techniques is desirable
• Ability to transform complex analytics into a simple, visual story to influence decision makers and build compelling presentations
• Experience of effective collaboration across functions and geographies to solve complex challenges
• Quantitative reasoning skills, including the ability to work with numbers, summarize data and to present, explain and discuss the results
   

What would be your key responsibilities?

• Managing Petcare packaging sustainability data collection, reporting, forecasting and analysis, consolidating data across teams and regions to provide insights and help determine Petcare’s future direction
• Developing future systems for improved packaging data reporting in partnership with MW and Food segment leads, corporate sustainability team and Mars Digital Technologies
• Deliver internal and external Petcare sustainability reporting, ensuring timely and effective communication to key stakeholders including global segment sustainability, corporate sustainability, regional program leads and functional leads
• Develop compelling and insightful visualisation, bringing the data to life through development of charts, visuals and dashboards to support with pre-reads and presentations
