YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

The primary responsibilities of this role, Pipeline Breeding Lead Africa, are to: 

 

  • Support the development of a strategy, implement plans, and test the feasibility and success of novel models for multi-regional plant breeding programs;
  • Win together globally by being a key partner with members of the EMEA and Asia Africa teams to deliver our strategic initiatives on a regional and global level to achieve the global breeding vision of improving lives through better harvests;
  • Develop, evaluate, and support the acceleration of Africa pipeline breeding programs;
  • Lead a team of breeders who are responsible for the development of inbreds and hybrids, with a high commercial impact across South Africa pipelines and the Sub-Saharan Africa pipelines, including the tropical white corn collaborative breeding program;
  • Lead the development and implementation of a new model for conducting plant breeding in a global environment;
  • Responsible for supporting the development of a strategy, implementing plans, and testing the feasibility and success of novel models for multi- regional plant breeding programs;
  • Imagine better solutions to develop and implement a fully automated breeding program by incorporating analytics, logistics, operational management, and communication through a non-human interface.

Required Qualifications:

 

  • Ph.D. or Master's Degree preferred in Plant Breeding, Statistics, Molecular Biology, Pathology, Agronomy, or related field of study;
  • 3+ years of significant people and project management experience in an agricultural-related research position;
  • Proficiency working with database applications and visualization software;
  • Strong background in genetics, field plot technique, knowledge of statistical theory, and innovation creation;
  • Demonstrated success in developing and evaluating complex programs, selecting and effectively implementing innovative programs;
  • Excellent leadership and people skills, effective verbal and written communication, and ability to thrive in a team-based work environment;
  • Proven history of developing people and teams through effective change management skills, and developing team culture;
  • Up to 20% U.S. and international travel required.

 

Domestic relocation may be avilable this role.
