Planner/ Scheduler- Lenexa, KS


Our team in Lenexa, KS is at the heart of the global response to COVID-19. Given the significant demand for COVID-19 testing, Thermo Fisher is expanding our capacity in Lenexa with a new $40 million facility dedicated to viral transport media (VTM) for COVID-19 sample collection. We are hiring more than 300 new team members to join us in this effort.

How will you make an impact?
The Production Planner and Scheduler plans, schedules, coordinates and/or monitors final approval of products through the complete production cycle in order to meet Customer Service Goals, minimize scrap due to obsolescence and maintain inventory/working capital within approved limits.
 
What will you do? 
Responsibilities:

 

  • Plans and establishes the production schedule for production lines.
  • Tracks progress of production and updates schedules as necessary.  Communicates schedules to plant personnel and tracks factors which affect production.
  • Works closely with production supervision and plant personnel to ensure product is produced and packed to meet customer requirements and is flowing through the production, quality and product disposition processes in a timely manner.
  • Interfaces with Customer Service and Sales and other personnel concerning product availability.
  • Prepares various production and inventory reports as required.
  • Special projects on as needed basis.  Initial project as outlined below.
 
Initial Project:
 
  • Support Shop Floor Controller in establishing systems and standard work to ensure Visibility, Control and Alignment of Production is maintained between Supply Chain, Operations, Quality and Distribution.
  • Timely SAP transactions and accuracy of data within the system will be the core requirement.   However, it is recognized a high level of excel and paperwork control will be required to be managed until system optimization can be implemented to reduce the need for external tracking methods. 
  • Supporting Shop Floor Controller and all functions by providing visibility of Right First Time/First Time Pass rate which directly impacts total replenishment time. Total Replenishment Time target is <= 10 days from start of manufacture. 
 
How will you get here?
 
Experience, skills & abilities required:
Must Have’s
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Supply Chain or other related fields.
  • Demonstrated experience will be considered in lieu of degree
  • A high level of numeracy
  • Good communication skills, written and verbal
  • Excel competency
  • Experience of production environment
  • Good team working skills
Preferred
  • SAP experience
  • Microsoft Office programs experience
  • Power BI reporting experience
  • PPI experience
