Siemens Mobility are recruiting for Planning professionals as part of our Military to Rail Programme. The Military to Rail programme offers service leavers and former military personnel the opportunity of a successful career within the rail industry. This is our third time running this highly successful programme and we are delighted to be able to offer the opportunity to support your transition from the military into the Rail Industry. Applicants for these roles should be currently in the military or have left the military in the last 2 years. We have roles in the programme available nationwide. However, for some roles we may require you to be located within a geographical area or a commutable distance from a Site or Office. In this instance, we are looking for Planners to be located out of Chippenham, York, Birmingham or Croydon. Siemens Mobility Rail Infrastructure supplies railway markets the world over with solutions and turnkey installations for railway automation and telecommunication. Our customers are infrastructure operators and mainline railways all round the world as well as industrial railways and public transport authorities in cities and megacities. The Role: As a planner you will carry out project planning and control activities on designated projects. You will be a key member of the project team and support project managers in the successful planning and control of project delivery. What will be my responsibilities? Develop and maintain plans in accordance with Siemens Mobility Rail Infrastructure UK project management and planning procedures and processes. Work closely with project, commercial and finance managers and members of the wider project team to ensure project schedules are accurately developed, maintained, resourced and cost loaded. Work closely with site and possession planners to ensure cohesion between these different activities and the main project schedule. Work closely with the central Bids & Tendering team to ensure tender plans are developed through the mobilisation process into contract plans Build and maintain close working relationships with client representatives and work collaboratively to find the most efficient and effective planning and controls solutions. Perform critical path analysis and advise of possible actions and areas of concern. Ensure that the periodic project reporting requirements are met for both internal and client through the provision of key project metrics such as key performance indicators, earned value, schedule delay and critical path analysis reports as required. Perform analysis and scenario modelling for any potential project change and be able to provide risks, issues, cost, resource and delay analysis. The Person: This is a role that will suit any ex-military person who has demonstrable experience of planning operations, major exercises or military projects. There is no minimum rank that can apply and is open to all service arms. What Qualifications and Experience do I need for this role? Essential Requirements: Degree/HND/HNC level qualifications or relative demonstrable experience. Experience of planning infrastructure projects or operations. Experience of working with project/programme management. Primavera Planning expertise or knowledge and use of other planning tool such as MS Project Self-motivated with sound interpersonal and communication skills. Practiced analytical and problem-solving skills Desirable Requirements: Knowledge and awareness of project management methodologies, e.g. Prince 2, IPMA, APMQ. Technical or Engineering background. This will be discussed with you before offering you a place at the assessment centre. This assessment centre will take place at The National Rail Academy for Rail (NTAR) on 28th & 29th March 2023, with a targeted programme start date of 10th July 2023. Please make sure that you are available for these dates, as we do not know at this stage the time frame for future programmes. Upon successfully joining Siemens, you will undertake an intensive 6-week training period before moving into a permanent role within our Rail Infrastructure business. The roles on offer post training period are permanent positions and the pay and benefits associated with this role will be discussed with you at the offer stage.
