Reporting to the Associate Director Operations Finance – IDS, the Plant Controller, based in Broken Bow, Nebraska, will be the primary financial business partner and a member of the Plant Leadership Team.  In addition to analyzing & interpreting financial performance, this position will directly over-see the creation, validation, analysis, and communication of financial and operational data relating to cost improvements, CB-2 preparation, and the capital processes.

This individual will be the operations business partner and work closely with the Operations Finance Center of Excellence (COE) on processes and analysis related to annual plant budgeting, quarterly forecasting, month-end closings, and other ad hoc reporting.  The Plant Controller will also be responsible for supporting the annual strategic review (ASR) for the site as well as serving as the financial expert on cross-functional project and operations teams.  Oversees internal controls related to material inventory including physicals and/or cycle counting activities.  The controller will oversee COE performance reporting, review & approval, and develop direct reports.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide financial analysis & interpretation to the operations team to aid in decision making including:
    • Overall financial performance
    • Continuous improvement project analysis
    • Capital and CB-2 development and analysis
    • New product cost development
    • Strategic sourcing analysis
    • Other Ad Hoc analysis
  • Partner with the COE to develop and ensure that standard costs are accurate and meet the cost improvement objectives set by Operations.
  • Support the COE development of annual strategic plans, annual budget package, and quarterly forecasts for the manufacturing site including:
    • Validating production volumes and analyzing leverage
    • Ensuring that productivity factors are in-line with expectations
    • Working with Operations and Strategic Sourcing to minimize material inflation
    • Conducting reviews to ensure staffing and overhead spending are appropriate
    • Ensuring that manufacturing variances to standard and start-up costs are accurate
  • Oversee the development of capital expenditures and analyze capital spending by project.  Drive capital budgeting, forecasting, and reporting requirements.
  • Assist with the analysis of inventory levels and days inventory on-hand (DIO) to ensure they meet ISC/Operations targets
  • Responsible for ensuring the site meets compliance to GAAP, SOX, legal/statutory & BD internal finance policies
    • Ensure timely and accurate financial performance reporting prepared by the COE
    • Review annual physical inventory and/or cycle-count program to ensure accuracy
  • Work with Operations Finance and the Finance COE to drive further standardization and process efficiency
  • Prepare and communicate various operational metrics as required
  • Special projects as required.

Qualifications

  • BS in Accounting / Finance; CPA/CMA/MBA desirable.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience of increasing responsibility in a manufacturing environment supporting a plant.
  • Demonstrated proficiency strongly preferred with SAP, BPC, etc.
  • Knowledge of capital budgeting, including IRR / NPV principals and product costing methodologies required.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office tools (Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint, etc.) required.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel required (Vlookups, macros, pivot tables, etc.)
  • Strong analytical
  • Proven experience leading and developing teams, and serving as an effective team member in a large global organization including planning, developing, organizing, directing, managing, and evaluating personnel.
  • Driven to analyze problems and collaborate with others to identify and deliver solutions.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment under pressure with tight deadlines and handle multiple/detail-oriented tasks.
  • Strong collaboration and demonstrated ability to establish relationships and build rapport with all stakeholders, and influence at all levels of management through informed discussions and presentations.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, matrixed environment with strong attention to detail.
  • Self-driven, proactive and seeks continuous improvement.
  • Strategy/Business Development experience preferred.
  • Willingness and ability to travel as necessary.
