The Challenge
- Market dynamics: PA6 sales is strongly dependent of the economic situation. Quality demands in film polymer from customers are very high.
- Technology Challenges: PA6 is basically a mature product, but the growth of the volume should come from products with a high demand for quality. The PA6 plant has some technologies which are new in the world of PA6 production and this causes some technology challenges. Because of the maturity of the product and the bulk type of production low production cost is very important.
- Organizational Developments: The PA6 plant was built in 2008. The organization has changed dramatically in the past and the management team of PA6 plant now is still young.
- Internal and External network: Plant Manager PA6 Polymerization is part of business team Akulon Extrusion, Site Management Team and Site SHE and Quality Committee.
The Position
a) Key Areas of Accountability / Responsibility
1. SHE, Quality & Security, Compliance and Management Systems:
- Ensure compliance with relevant local laws and regulations; DSM SHE, Manufacturing, Quality and Security Requirements; ISO 9001, ISO/TS 16949 and ISO 14001 requirements; and RoHS, REACH, GMP and relevant customer requirements in the Plant.
- Ensure the management systems are effectively implemented and the requirements are followed in the Plant.
- Ensure that DSM Life Saving Rules are followed in the Plant.
- Show leadership to promote safety and quality awareness, and safe and quality behavior in the Plant.
- Accountable for SHE and Quality performance in the Plant. Ensure that the working environment is safe and healthy.
- Participate as an active member of the Site Management Team for the Company’s safety, quality and environmental performance of the Plant.
- Proactively communicate SHE and quality issues in the Plant, within own Plant and with external stakeholders.
- Coach subordinates for excellent SHE and quality performance.
- Ensure information security in the Plant.
- Accountable for the implementation of the approved Manufacturing plan, for an uninterrupted and safe execution of Manufacturing processes and for performance evaluation, in compliance with Manufacturing Excellence work processes;
- Be the manufacturing representative in the Business Team, responsible for the right capability management of the plant (short and long term production strategy);
- Manage and continuously improve the plant operations. Implement and monitor the improvements of the productivity and the lowering of the production costs through operational excellence.
- Encourage the plant organization to use Advanced Manufacturing and Six Sigma tools.
- Define the Plant Manufacturing Plan in accordance with agreed operational and strategic goals of the company.
- Set targets and KPIs, continually analyze the plant performance and ensure adequate management reporting of the performance of the plant.
- Define budget for the plant and allocate resources and spending within approved budget.
- Drive a high customer oriented organization and improve the business performance by supplying products with high quality and services.
- Investigate the root causes of relevant customer complaints & operational problems and accountable for ensuring effective preventive actions are taken timely;
- Work closely with business teams and other functions on the site to ensure smooth operations and meeting business/company requirements.
- Execute HR policies and procedures in the plant organization (recruitment, appraisal, development, training, etc). Ensure the short-term and long-term availability of a competent workforce. Develop and continuously improve motivation system for team stability and ensure plant staff well accept DEP Shared Values and perform their best ability;
- Foster a learning organization. Coach the plant team for excellent SHE and quality performance and increase their professional knowledge
- Organize and lead the whole department DICI activity.
2. Manufex Roles:
Production Owner in Manufacturing Process:
- Accountable for the integrity of installations, in compliance with the SHE requirements, regulations and permits.
- Contribute to the definition of the annual Manufacturing plan, using defined key performance indicators.
- Accountable for the implementation of the approved Manufacturing plan, for an uninterrupted and safe execution of the Manufacturing processes and for performance evaluation, in compliance with Manufacturing Excellence work processes.
- Responsible for complete and timely input to Demand Chain Planning with regard to short-term production capacity information.
- Accountable for executing the supply plan as agreed in the S&OP meeting.
- Accountable for efficiency results, performing within agreed quality standards and related periodic reporting.
- Accountable for timely, complete and accurate recording of production data, in order to enable reliable mass balancing, and reporting on Key Performance Indicators and asset utilization.
- Accountable for proper training of production staff, in order to enable them to perform safely and efficiently, in accordance with the Manufacturing Excellence work processes and SHE requirements.
Production Owner in Operate Plant Normal Process:
Responsible for:
- Identifying and quantifying Operating Parameters that correspond to the Production Plan.
- Defining Operating Windows and using them for the Operating Parameters.
- Determining the required actions and consequences in case of operation outside the operating windows.
- Adequate training of relevant personnel with respect to Operating Parameters, Operating windows and related actions.
- Analyzing and discussing the performance on a regular basis in a multidisciplinary team.
- Setting priorities within the work process Operate Plant normal

The Ideal
1. Bachelor’s Degree or above in chemical engineering, chemistry, material engineering, or other related fields.
2. Good leading and interpersonal skills. Must be a team player with good coaching skills and have the capability to challenge and drive the team to achieve higher performance
3. Balanced temperament, able to work under pressure and prioritize.
4. Ability to work within multicultural and international environment
5. Good spoken and written skills in English and Mandarin.
6. Strong communication skills.
7. Strong learning capability and problem solving skills.
9. Required level of experiences
