Duties and Responsibilities
Plan, set up and execute assembly of various components and assemblies for multiple customized blinds in accordance with the contractual requirements from the multiple countries such as UK, USA and Australia, China.
1. Quantity of Work Output
Responsible for the planning, scheduling and coordinating the workload, including the
following activities:
§ Planning – Ensuring resources and material will be available when needed
§ Scheduling – Assigning work schedules, establishing progress and communicating any deviations
§ Coordinating – Distributing workload, establishing priorities and being responsible
for day-to-day activities of the assigned work
2. Quality of Work Output
Responsible to ensure quality of the work meet or exceeds all blinds standards of ODL. Maintains a general awareness amongst staff of the quality standards and promotes the importance of quality.
3. Personal - Labor Management
Responsible for the overall supervision, accountability and direction of all directly and
indirectly reporting operators and contractors. This includes the following activities:
§ Selection & Hiring
§ Orientation & Training
§ Supervision & Attendance Management
§ Performance Reviews & Salary Reviews
§ Labor Relations - Builds, motivates and retains a team that consistently meets ODL blind production deadlines
§ Acts as the first point of contact for subcontractors
§ Shop floor supervisor management
4. Productivity - Cost Control and Efficiency
The Production Manager is responsible to maximize the level of output of the manufacturing and assemble department by ensuring operating costs of the department are minimized through a lean manufacturing environment.
5. Compliance with Labor Codes & Company Policies
The Plant Manager has the responsibility to ensure that his/her area of responsibility is free of safety violations, that all employees receive proper training and that all human rights are upheld. The Plant Manager is responsible for the health and safety of his/her directly reporting employees and for ensuring a harassment-free environment in the production area.
§ Manages direct labor cost/variances through scheduling based on production volumes. Ensures raw material usages are in agreement with product BOM's
§ Regularly reviews performance data and identifies gaps relevant to the team
§ Ensures the team is operating within all legal, compliance and applicable contractual obligations
§ Continuously evaluates production and assemble performance and focuses on continuous improvement in areas of opportunity/non-compliance
§ Assures good housekeeping practices (5S) through auditing
§ Enforces plant rules and safety regulations
§ Counsels employees
§ Coordinates production to meet customer demands ensuring the maintenance work and project implementation outages are optimized
The Plant Manager is responsible for planning, discussing and completing reports about the production and the staff. In the assembly line, he/she ensures the staff follows company and government policies and procedures, while manufacturing quality products. The Plant Manager inspect the work of staff and implements rules in the assembly line, such as Blind Standard Operation (Assembly) Procedure, wearing protective gear or proper uniform. Other tasks of the Plant Manager include setting production goals and meeting target dates, completing paperwork daily related to the assembly line, reporting to supervisors, and communicating with other departments in implementing new customization.
Working Conditions
The Plant Manager spends his/her forty to fifty hours of weekly work between the production areas, where he/she secures his/her workers with necessary uniforms and protection, doing quality work and meeting the required target and his/her office wherein he/she meets with subordinates and managers projecting and analyzing data and reports. This job includes a lot of pressure and stress; he/she can be called during emergencies even if he/she is not on duty.
Education, Experience and Training
1. Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, science, industrial management or similar discipline
2. APICS CPIM Training or certified (or CSCP)
3. 15 years working experience (7 years factory experience at least; Planning or Scheduling experience is a plus)
Requested Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
1. Extensive plant level experience with significant proven supervisory experience
2. Technical understanding
3. Understand of Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP), Kaizen, Lean Manufacturing, Pull production methods
4. Strong Enterprise Resource Planning system experience
