Eaton’s Electrical Sector is currently seeking a Platform and Innovation Manager to join our team. This position is based at our Raleigh, NC location. If residing outside 50 miles of Raleigh, NC relocation assistance will be offered. Position Overview: Eaton is seeking a Platform and Innovation Manager for the Power Electronics (PE) Center of Excellence (CoE). Eaton’s PE CoE accelerates the company’s growth through the development of power electronics platforms and building blocks that are scalable, cost-effective, and manufacturable as well as standardized design methodologies that can be adopted by multiple businesses (e.g., UPS, LV/MV Drives, Energy storage, etc.), which provides a foundation for our business to more rapidly develop innovative products. The platform and innovation manager will be responsible for: Identifying the opportunities of power electronics platforms and building blocks that are scalable, cost-effective, and manufacturable for application to various Eaton products and solutions Developing and deploying power electronics hardware platforms and building blocks Identifying the latest technology development and trends in academia and industry Examining new and promising power electronics technologies for application to next-generation Eaton products and solutions as well as the state-of-art design methodologies to improve the development process Leading and directing the projects for the development of platforms, building blocks, and new technologies The ideal candidate has strong attention to detail, a solid power electronics background and development experience, a proven track record in successful project and platform management and implementation, leadership skills capable of coordinating among different groups. In this function you will: Develops and maintains power electronics hardware platforms and building blocks Creates detailed technical requirements for the power electronics hardware platforms and building blocks Identify and examine new and promising power electronics technologies and design methodologies Leads and directs the projects for the development of platforms, building blocks, and new technologies Monitors and reports overall performance of projects by creating project reports and presentation. Works closely with engineering leads for the design and development of platforms and building blocks. Contributes to and leads technical discussions as needed, with the ability to easily communicate the decisions and benefits to customers, engineers, and management Supports the PE CoE director to develop strategy, direction, and priorities of the power electronics hardware platforms, building blocks, and new technologies. Creates action plans to drive strategies to realization. Develops effective cross-organization relationships, efficient collaboration and communication across business Initiates and develops solid relationships with engineering leaders within Eaton to drive adoption of platforms, common designs, and state-of-the art design methodologies. Partners with Eaton Research Lab (ERL) to develop a longer-term research portfolio for power electronics. Why work at Eaton? Qualifications Required (Basic) Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in engineering or equivalent. 8+ years of related engineering experience in power electronics designs and product development 5+ years of experience including hands-on project/platform management of large, cross-functional efforts, from concept through delivery. Strong working knowledge in power electronics designs including topology, analog/digital circuit, thermal management, control, and firmware Familiarity with various systems (e.g., energy storage system, UPS system, charger system) utilizing power electronics Experience communicating with technical and non-technical stakeholders across multiple business units Customer focus with good relationship building and communication skills Collaborative orientation, the ability to succeed in a highly team oriented, global, and diverse environment. Fluent in oral and written English. Preferred qualifications: MS or PhD in engineering. Proven track record of managing multiple projects and stakeholders simultaneously. Excellent presentation and PowerPoint skills. Experience developing comprehensive project plans with high-level technical requirements while dealing with ambiguity. Experience working in diverse cultural situations with global customers and team members. Demonstrated knowledge of engineering processes. Design for Six Sigma certification.
