Purpose of Role:
- Manage the design, development and implementation of Global Point of Sale (POS) systems, related applications and technologies, providing recommendations to stakeholders for our physical stores.
- Engage with senior leadership and store leadership teams, providing IT leadership by identifying and promoting key opportunities, developing and agreeing a POS supporting portfolio of initiatives and leading the delivery of business change initiative.
- Recognized as a trusted advisor in store technologies, operating as the Global key contact for the business, demonstrating full understanding of the problems and opportunities for business change.
Key Responsibilities:
- Acts as the face of Mars DT, being the global contact for management teams and divisional managers demonstrating full understanding of the problems and opportunities for business change.
- Supports Global POS specific technologies deployed in-stores (including registers, scales, pin-pads, printers, wireless, etc.) Identify/implement opportunities to improve the process, support, management, and implementation of same.
- Responsible for the communication and marketing of Mars DT Initiatives and services to the business leaders.
- Responsible to develop, maintain and drive the Global IT strategies in the assigned markets / stores and agreeing relevant IT governance structures, tightly linked with the latest IT strategic framework.
- Works closely with the relevant business stakeholders to identify requirements for new / existing solutions.
- Financial accountability of the overall IT costs. Facilitates the IT Financial Planning process for all covered markets and ensures the agreed targets are met and ongoing opportunities are taken to reduce costs.
- Partnering with cross functional teams including infrastructure, network, information security, project management and help desk to develop project estimates, timelines, technical and business requirements to support initiatives & store expansion.
- Responsible for PCI compliance, managing yearly audit and related compliance activities.
- Partner with external vendor to provide Level 1, 2, 3 support, including oversight of costs.
- Drive Thought Leadership with a focus on continuous improvement.
Context & Scope:
- The role looks after all physical stores, globally, for Mars Retail Group and Ethel M businesses across three regions. The main counterparts in the business are senior leadership and store leadership. Within Mars DT, the key interactions are with counterparts within the region or segment and the core services team.
- The level of authority of this position requires different perspectives to take decisions on contractor resourcing strategy, contract with external strategic partners, agreements with internal and central teams, as well as experience with capital and expense financial management ($1.5 M).
- High level of interaction with Unit Business Partners, Site Directors, and Global Segment Leadership Teams
- This role is designed to be on-site a Mars location, with Site Visits for all locations under his/her accountability including possible global travel to Retail and corporate locations.
What are we looking for?
- Undergraduate related degree (or a degree with a large IT component)
- ITIL certification is preferred, but not essential
- CSM certification Is preferred
- 5+ years of experience in IT service management, IT project management or similar.
- 5+ years multi-national experience with Point of Sales across different languages, currencies, and fiscal requirements.
- 5+ years of experience in the Retail industry performing an IT function.
- Experience leading Global PCI compliance initiatives.
- Experience with cloud and local hosting/services, computer room design and site technology architecture.
- 3+ years of experience coordinating Managed Service delivery and/or contractors.
- Hands-on experience with Point of Sale and databases (XStore and MS-SQL Is a plus)
- Demonstrated understanding of full technology stack, Including LAN, WAN, Firewalls, POS Hardware, Applications, etc.
- Must be customer focused with demonstrated ability to form productive relationships including business leaders, IT personnel, and project leaders.
- Sound understanding of a company's business and technology strategy and established business process areas and the ways which technology may Impact and enhance business processes.
- Able to evaluate technology and process alternatives.
- Excellent written and verbal skills as well as high Interpersonal skills.
- Strong problem analysis, negotiating, and Influencing skills.
- Should have a proven track record of delivering results in some of the three areas: Project Delivery, Program Management, Senior Management Exposure.
- Detail- oriented, self-motivated, and knowledgeable in retail hardware / software / business processes.
- Flexibility is required to deal with changing business requirements and new demands.
