We are looking for a point fitter/ team leader to join our Rail Infrastructure team in Manchester. Organise and plan work to maximise utilisation of resources. Organise and control the work undertaken by staff and contractors allocated and to ensure that it is carried out safely. Responsible for managing the personal safety and the administration, of allocated staff and contractors. Ensure that the briefing of instructions to staff under his control or allocated to him for such purpose is carried out timely. Responsible for the timekeeping and discipline of staff/Agency workers under his/her control. EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS Experience in point fitting covering HW, HPSS, CL, IBCL and associated back drives. Experienced in Railway Signalling Installation. Appropriate IRSE License (Points Fitter essential). Installer and Team Leader desirable. Fully conversant with current railway signalling installation practices. Assertive and influential. Excellent communications skills. Must hold current driving license and current PTS certificate. Must be willing to travel and lodge away from home depot when required by operational circumstances. Must be prepared to work day/night shift as required by operational circumstance. COMPETENCIES Knowledge & Experience: Specific Health, Safety & Environmental Responsibilities for this Post: Follow the good examples set by the Project Manager in creating a robust H&S culture within the project Set an example by their own actions and activities Set targets and objectives for H&S and environmental for their direct staff, use the staff dialogues process for managing H&S and environmental objectives Ensure that directed staff are capable and competent to undertake the tasks allocated to them Responsibility for undertaking the role of Responsible Manager for RIPs activities where the Project Manager requires. This includes ensuring the RIPs plans are suitable for the work, nominating competent safety critical personal to safely execute the works, monitoring the requirements of the RIPs plans and undertaking verification checks on plans to ensure compliance and effectiveness. Communicate and encourage feedback on H &S and environmental issues Ensure adequate H&S equipment is to hand and is used by employees Undertake H&S tours or inspections; take action where deficiencies are observed Become involved in any work safe problem and help resolve that problem Maintain their competence to manage their own H&S and environmental responsibilities and contribute to their directs competence to manage their H&S and environmental responsibilities About us We’re Siemens.
