Portfolio Account Associate/Manager - Oncology

Job Description

Role Purpose:

  • Accountable for managing individual accounts with strategic importance to AstraZeneca, taking ultimate responsibility for their performance.

  • Responsible for generating clinical demand for Oncology brands with key accounts, pro-actively identifying business opportunities, presenting value propositions aligned to stakeholder needs and objectives, and recommending solutions to drive and develop business.

  • The long term goal is to develop strategic and mutually beneficial relationships with the Multi-Disciplinary Team (MDT), Decision Making Unit (DMU), and potentially other stakeholders, based on a deep scientific understanding of the issues in order to identify the best opportunities for any part of AZ's Oncology portfolio to deliver life-changing medicines to patients

  • Manage tender business in the Saudi market and supporting franchises to achieve target revenues

  • Participate in brand teams.

Key Accountabilities:

Develop account strategy and plans:

  • Identify and prioritise accounts with strategic value to AZ, e.g., hospitals, supply pharmacies, and liberate resources from lower priority accounts to invest in higher priority ones
  • Pull on cross-functional team to identify and analyse stakeholder needs / challenges and opportunities to improve positioning of AZ's Oncology products
  • Work with FLSM to develop strategies for each account / stakeholder to meet targets, aligned to Oncology TA brand strategy, within the governmental and regulatory environment

Build strategic partnerships with key accounts and broader Oncology ecosystem

  • Build, develop and manage long-term external relationships, focusing on relevant senior stakeholders within high-value accounts
  • Share stakeholder insight and information within AZ to strengthen relevant activities, e.g., product development, marketing, sales efforts
  • Credibly engage influential stakeholders across the broader Oncology ecosystem to collaboratively develop win-win-win solutions and drive successful implementation of key account strategies

Deliver on plans and achieve sales goals on budget

  • Ensure implementation of business plans and drive sales performance to meet or exceed expectations while managing operational account budgets
  • Coordinate appropriate actions externally and internally via a well-defined, detailed account plan
  • Drive cross-functional and cross-regional collaboration to fully leverage AZ's account management capabilities
  • Negotiate pricing, contracts, contract terms, rebate lists and discounts with key accounts

QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS

Necessary knowledge and Experience to be able to do the job (including language skills)

  • 2 years experience with consistent success in pharmaceutical or healthcare sales
  • Previous Oncology and/or Speciality experience is preferred with the drive to continually build individual knowledge over time
  • Proven ability to understand, assimilate and communicate scientific information and Health Economic Outcomes data
  • Proven track record of engaging and developing lasting relationships with a broad base of key stakeholders in complex clinical environments, e.g., mid and senior level healthcare professionals, key accounts and the medical community
  • Proven track record of strategic thinking, judgment and persuasion / negotiation skills
  • Proven track record of developing and successfully executing compelling account strategies
  • Strong leadership attributes to set direction, generate commitment, balance short and long term needs, constructively resolve issues and proven demonstration of effective cross-functional team leadership
  • Understanding of the impact of public policy and political influences on coverage, payment and regulatory decisions
  • Understanding of the commercial pharmaceutical marketplace
  • Business English Language – verbal, written and auditory, preferably Arabic Language – conversational
  • Ability to develop Market Access & pricing strategies
  • Experience of working closely with payer customers
  • Knowledge of the local healthcare systems
  • Understanding of AstraZeneca’s products - desirable

Education and Certification requirements

  • Bachelors Degree in Pharmacy or equivalent.
